I'll answer that question when you tell me what's the difference from one Rick Ross album to another.

So you mean to tell me that you can't hear the difference between DTR and POM????

Other than simpler production? No. The content is the same, the rhyme schemes are the same, Delivery is the same. Explain to me the difference.

Name some rappers who dropped their first album in the year 2000 and beyond that fit this description......

That's really where I'm trying to get at with this thread....and I'm not tryna to diss nobody for their opinions.....I thought I made it extra clear. I'm talking about artists who debuted after 2000 (our generation). Only a few artists fit that description.

Yeezy does..
Lil Wayne does..
Drake has a good chance at it...
Hopefully J. Cole makes it mainstream..
Lupe might cement everything with Lasers..

Those are the only credible artists from this decade & I think Ross belongs on that list...

People hate that nigga that much lol....

I mean I get the hate but when you start denyin that he has 3 #1 albums, and 4 gold albums total, and all he has done is raise his name up after 6 years in the spotlight, something is wrong.

I think he is well on his way to legend status. Only people higher than Ross at this point are obvious great artists too.

Expectations have never been lower. I guess we gotta put his face on the Hip-Hop Mt.Rushmore now.

2000 Rappers who had a shot...

Fabolous - Albums are horrible. Could've been the KONY. 6 albums in.

The Game - Started off hot. Couldn't keep 50 Cent out his mouth long enough to establish his self away from G-Unit. He still "might" have a chance though. 3 albums in.

Luda - Albums are horrible. Great rapper nonetheless. 8 albums in.

T.I. - Court Trouble. Was doing it from King to Paper Trail. His shit lookin extra bleak right about now. 6 albums in.

Young Jeezy - Started off blistering hot. Seems like he's lost steem. 3 albums in.

Nelly - LOL. 4 albums in.

Cassidy - Great rapper. SMH @ his career. 4 albums in.

I mean who else? These all of the "peers" I could think of

I feel you, but Ross is on year two of being a top 5 artist. Its not just sales, its his popularity, or his hits on blogs, stuff like that. A good Ross thread goes 100 posts plus damn near everytime, on every blog. Like it or not thats the way stuff is based now a days. Ross brings traffic to the sites.

Now that in of itself doesnt make him a legend, or put him on the Rushmore, but making such quality music at the same time with people waiting for him to fail is damn impressive if you ask me.

You made a comparison using TWO tracks so now my argument is shot down? You know there were 18 tracks on POM right? Nigga please you aint proving nothing but a lack of resources.

Top 5 artist? You either must not listen to a lot of Hip-Hop or only listen to mainstream shit. Imma start a thread on classic Rick Ross verses and see how far it gets me.

and the only reason Ross won't be a legend is because he hasn't done anything to change the game or introduced a sound that wasn't previously there... but in 5 years he WILL have to be considered top 20 ever if his resume contines the way it is... nigga hasn't dropped a bad album yet.. and dude got HITS whether you wanna believe it or not.. nigga has slowed down the careers of 50 & Jeezy .. gotta give him credit

Hits, oh really, what are these hits???????????????????????

I understand yall (this generation) thinking, yall want one of your own to be in the legends talk (Pac, Big,etc), so yall lower the damn bar for niggas like Wayne, Ross, Jeezy, etc. Lets be real, Kanye is the best thing and closest to being a legend rapper wise, and then maybe Lupe talent wise but he hasn't put it all together yet. Ross is a pretty average mc, then again Too Short is pretty average too and some people consider him a legend. smh

You said his delivery and rhyme scheme has never changed since POM.....that's a flat out lie and I just showed why. Hell there is a huge difference between how Ross was rhyming on POM when compared to Trilla. Come on bruh imma a fan of dude, you just running ur mouth and spitting nonsense ain't gonna fly in here. So what track on POM was Ross rapping like he does on Tears of Joy from TD??

Curious minds want to know......where do you rank 50 in your all time rapper list

Seriously, you niggas are corny. What does 50 have to do with this? You niggas can't compose a legitimate reason to bring credibility to this asinine "argument", so you bring an outside entity into it? Here you go though. If I did rank 50, he would surely be higher than Ross. Why? Simple. Ross has never been in a position to drop one of raps most anticipated albums. I don't mean in a particular year, I mean of all-time. Then he actually delivered which was a notable feat. Ross has never dropped singles as big as "In the Club", "21 Questions", "Wanksta", etc....Ross never was the top rapper on the planet like 50 obviously was. Then you can factor in the rappers who 50 ushered him. Game, Buck, Banks, Yayo. All platinum or gold rappers. While Ross gave you, well I can't even name one of them irrelevant niggas. I just remember that CCC album that sold like 10k first week. Is 50 a legend? That would take time to actually think about. However, his career vs. Ross career is a no damn brainer. One has multiplatinum albums, a notable classic album, real hit records, a notable diss track, high entertainment value off wax, and constantly brings authenticity. The other has none of that and stays going through an identity crisis. He's a decent rapper though, just no where near 50 cent level....
