Top 5 artist? You either must not listen to a lot of Hip-Hop or only listen to mainstream shit. Imma start a thread on classic Rick Ross verses and see how far it gets me.

Its the whole package man, he has above average verses on great production and makes great songs.

He makes great songs. You know how many artists, his peers say he is the best right now? I have seen no less than 20-30 artists and other famous people get on twitter and say he has the spot right now.

Hits, oh really, what are these hits???????????????????????

I understand yall (this generation) thinking, yall want one of your own to be in the legends talk (Pac, Big,etc), so yall lower the damn bar for niggas like Wayne, Ross, Jeezy, etc. Lets be real, Kanye is the best thing and closest to being a legend rapper wise, and then maybe Lupe talent wise but he hasn't put it all together yet. Ross is a pretty average mc, then again Too Short is pretty average too and some people consider him a legend. smh

Hustlin wasn't a hit? The Boss wasn't a hit? BMF wasn't a hit? MC Hammer wasn't a hit? 9 Piece aint gaining buzz? Astom Martin Music? Okay homes...

Seriously, you niggas are corny. What does 50 have to do with this? You niggas can't compose a legitimate reason to bring credibility to this asinine "argument", so you bring an outside entity into it? Here you go though. If I did rank 50, he would surely be higher than Ross. Why? Simple. Ross has never been in a position to drop one of raps most anticipated albums. I don't mean in a particular year, I mean of all-time. Then he actually delivered which was a notable feat. Ross has never dropped singles as big as "In the Club", "21 Questions", "Wanksta", etc....Ross never was the top rapper on the planet like 50 obviously was. Then you can factor in the rappers who 50 ushered him. Game, Buck, Banks, Yayo. All platinum or gold rappers. While Ross gave you, well I can't even name one of them irrelevant niggas. I just remember that CCC album that sold like 10k first week. Is 50 a legend? That would take time to actually think about. However, his career vs. Ross career is a no damn brainer. One has multiplatinum albums, a notable classic album, real hit records, a notable diss track, high entertainment value off wax, and constantly brings authenticity. The other has none of that and stays going through an identity crisis. He's a decent rapper though, just no where near 50 cent level....

This, GRODT>>>>>>>>

You have absolutely no idea what a true "hit' record is. That is why the whole thread is the equivalent to a treadmill. You niggas have no idea what these terms actually mean......

Hood songs aren't hit records, hits are records that crossed over to top 40 and mainstream. That's like saying Pastor Troy "we ready" and "i declare war" are hit records, i might give you Hustlin and that's it.

So on Hustlin he doesn't sound like he does on BMF? Stop it.

Actually no....he sounds new & unexperienced on POM....on BMF he sounds sure of himself. I'm convinced you haven't listened to Port of Miami thoroughly. Its hard to go listen to his old stuff. Its good but, he wasn't as good a lyricist. Its VERY, VERY noticeable.

True indeed. Logic has no place in this thread. Only inaccurate claims and misinterpretation of terms.....

......lol, I'm talking about his flow and rhyme scheme. You talkin bout he soundin more sure of himself on BMF? Why? Because he took a more aggressive tone on it? Come on fam.

I'm guessing your definition of a "hit" is a song that the MAJORITY of this country(aka white ppl) cosign...... is that correct?

Dont see 50's legendary status as an argument on Ross not being a legend.

50 is a bonafide legend IMO, Ross is not on 50's iconic level but he has his spot.

The word legend in hip-hop is a subjective term.......how can someone prove a rapper is a legend or not???

What Nas said???????????????????????

"most of yall will pop for a minute, spit a sentence, and the game will get rid of yall"

Why can't this nigga just go down as a successful artist that made hits and a few good albums. Why he gotta be labeled a Legend?

i know what a HIT is technically classified as... but if were judging it that way.. Jay-Z has about 10 "HITS" in a 15 year career.. that's a .66666666667 hit/year average

None of those songs are hit records, stop the nonsense. Hit records are Lollipop, Live your life, Nothing on you, etc. They crossed over to mainstream America!
