More than one person in the bible are said to live a very long age...moving on. Another poster has shown how during the first 6 days God created humans, and then later it shows he created Adam. 2 different instances... so its maybe its possible that the sons that were named married women that were not their sisters. You asked a question. You obviously dont even know enough about the question you are asking to actually have an intelligent conversation about it. Which is why I pointed out that there were 3 NAMED sons. If you dont know that tidbit of info, then its pretty safe to assume you dont really know what you are trying to discredit. The verse I quoted says very plainly Adam had sons AND daughters. So, now you have 2 things you were WRONG about.

As far as Adam being the first, well it seems that idea may not be all that correct. Genesis says God created man and land animals on the 6th day. Later in Genesis it says God created Adam from the dust. One obviously came after the other and its only plausible that Adam came after the first humans. Nothing is twisted its all there to read for yourself.

As far as evolution or God deciding to stop us from living a long life, I dont know and neither do you. What exactly does that have to do with Adam having sons and daughters though? Yea....

You know good and well everything in the bible isnt literal, so stop trying to pretend. Many things in the bible go over people's heads and it takes an in-depth analysis to see them.

so is there a guide for which parts of the bible are abstract symbolism and which parts are to be taken literally and treated like historical fact?

and also i like the part where Kain slayith Abel (killed his brother) but then his punishment from God was to be exiled to a different land to rule and given a wife he can subjegate and fuck whenever he wants. God was a lot more easy going back then. oh yea and everyone lived to be 800-900 years old back in those days, that's how the bible explains it. no really, look it up, i'm serious.
