What did the Cleveland police do? They wouldn't even put out an Amber Alert for them, as they considered them 'runaways'. I'd say Mr. Ramsey did far more justice for those young ladies than Cleveland's finest did.

I'm sure the thought if escape came up many times, however, when you are fearful, broken down and genuinely beleive you will die if you try to leave, you stay put. One finally got tired of living in that fear, and decided to break free.

the police that something was suspicious about that house

but no hard evidence was present as to why they should have investigated
