I don't know Loo.
If there's a chance that eventually you'll be making considerably more than you're making now then it makes sense, but if you've gotta do a whole lot just to get back to where you are now I wouldn't risk it.
Get a side hustle and see if you can turn that into something.
You're were a journalism major that's now in Web Design right?
Maybe you can do something on the side with that.
From the outside looking in, sometimes a new gig can look better than it really is.
If you can, try and talk with some people who already work there and see if it's everything it's cracked up to be.
nex gin;2666094 said:So the new gig is paying half of what you currently make? I dunno fam. It's a gamble that may or not pay off in the long run. Go w/ your 1st inclination. Everything that glitters ain't gold & you can never truly trust those who are spitting that "this company is so great" bs. About 8-10 years ago I had a job interview at this one company. Everyone was saying how great it was to work there....how good the benefits and chances for growth were. I was unemployed at the time & had just gotten a job offer from another company but it was making less. My gut told me to go w/ the job making less. Good thing I did because the other company went out of business a couple of months later. All that glitters ain't gold. Research the new company as much as possible before taking a pay cut that significant.

Bling blang blaow!
King Erauno;2666329 said:congrats...doing what at intel? U took a 50% pay cut?
American.Loo;2665073 said:But the starting pay is half what I make now.
There is real potential for growth though, they are expanding crazy fast.
So do I get on my Pursuit of Happyness hustle and grind out the low pay til I get my moment to shine
or do I keep looking for a new gig. They offered the job and I told them I'll call back in a few hours...

Loo, go to the small company. Here's why from my experience:
- less office politics, more close knit group
- more flexible with deadlines
- opportunity to do even more tasks to pad your resume
- growth as you say
- a new challenge
- more time to post on the IC
Do whatever your heart tells you (no homo)
