Why would that intimidate me? If someone can not make eye contact during a conversation that says a couple of things about them. I know in other cultures it has different implications tho.

it funny because direct eye contact means so many different things to different people. if you look in some people in the eyes for too long they may interpret as a challenge or threat. I have heard a lot of mexicans will stare you down though like that though I have never experienced it. I wouldn't know wether to nod my head in acknowledge or prepare for battle.
