I work in project Improvement and we deal with this all the time.

The secret to overcoming it is breaking the task/mission at hand into smaller, "bite sized" tasks if you will. This makes it easier to digest, faster to analyze and helps you with your planning.

For example...Mission is "how can I get that thick classmate in Bio class to touch my penis?"

Break this larger mission down into smaller missions:

Mission 1: introduce yourself (time for completion: one week)

Mission 2: have two good convos with her (time for completion: one week)

Mission 3: make her laugh at a joke (time for completion: one week)

Mission 4: con her into a study group at the library even though it'll just be your conniving ass waiting on her ("I don't know where everybody at")

Mission 13: get her to wrap her hand around your pipe for 30-60 seconds

You get the point.

I deal with this everyday, its called obnoxious law school classmates. Asking questions on minute details that: a) we won't be tested on and b) are ancillary to the rule of law that we need to know. I got a cat in my Evidence class who does this at least twice a week and usually right at the end of class...

Paralysis by analysis is about having too many options. Its cured by simple process of elimination.

You go to the grocery store and there's 40 different BBQ sauces. You start eliminating them one at a time. You might decide how much your willing to pay, that will eliminate some. Then you decide what kind of flavor you want, that will eliminate more. You continue until there is an easier decision to be made.

In the instance of BBQ sauces though, folks usually have a "go-to" favorite but that kind of thinking works with everything.

It's not always about decision making. It's also overthinking a certain situation. You think matters are worse than they actually are. Constantly thinking about worst possible outcome to everything. Daily overreaction, in some sort.

this is my wife....if my son sneezes she goes off on how he's about to have a fever and gonna be sick for a week and gonna have to take off work and he might get diarrhea.

naw slim he just sneezed

when my wife has too many options ...she cant choose.

i choose quickly to eliminate seeing other options.

then I control having buyers remorse by being satisfied with my decision and following it thru.

but for the mostbpart...i don't make a move unless I thought about every action that can come from it or how people can come at me.

hence the name.

doesn't mean I don't fukk up once in a while....but no one is perfect
