So you're asking 17/18 year olds to sacrifice the level of exposure and limit the number of people who will see them perform just to be fucked over by the NCAA and their school on a smaller scale?

You don't seem to want to except or understand the fact that if our best athletes went to HBCU's that they would still get the exposure, especially if they played against the CAC schools and won.

And you don't understand that they'd still be getting fucked over by the NCAA and the schools they go to so there's going to need to be some incentive to get them there over other schools

I blame the coon parents of these athletes who keep sending them to white schools our athletes are one of our biggest natural resources to generate cash but we keep sending them to massas plantation

Every time I see this argument being made it seems like it's ignored the NCAA would still be the NCAA and the athletes would still be getting fucked over regardless of where they go to school at. Wasn't it at Grambling where the players protested just a year ago because they caught staph infections, long ass traveling for games, and saying the school was going on about it like they gave no fucks about them?

We all know the athletes get fucked but at least use your talents to build up black colleges. Grambling wouldn't have had those problems if they had the money for better facilities which those athletes could bring

But the athletes themselves still wouldn't be better off which defeats the whole "Going to an HBCU would be better for them" thing...

Who said anything about it being better for them? This whole thread is about white people going to hbcu's because the school needs money they are accepting them in mass and I'm saying if our athletes went to hbcu's that would generate more income for them. Your argument is a whole different subject

Then why call their parents coons for sending them to a school where they'll possibly get the most exposure for their future career choice vs. going to a school where they won't if you know the actual benefits for them won't change? Saying "Hey, come here to a school you may not be seen as much at instead to be fucked over by the NCAA instead of there" ain't really a great pitch. I'm not against them going to HBCU's, but your pitch got to be more than that to get them there

Bruh it's the NFL if you can play they will find you. Wasn't one of the topics picks from last year's draft from like North Dakota state or some shit, if all of our top talent went to hbcu's and played against each other then them being picked high in the draft wouldn't be so far fetched

So you're asking 17/18 year olds to sacrifice the level of exposure and limit the number of people who will see them perform just to be fucked over by the NCAA and their school on a smaller scale?

Are we talking about should athletes get paid or the original subject of how to get more money to hbcu's?

I was responding to your comment about people being coons for going to non HBCU schools to play as if they'd get some benefits they didn't before or the more likely outcome in that they'd still be getting fucked over as "student" athletes

Then they might as well not even play if that's your argument, all in saying is if you are going to get fucked you might as well have that money going to a black college

My alma mater.

Grambling's financial issues come more from former Governor Bobby Jindal Louisiana's cutting higher education budget by more than 60% in his failed attempt to balance the budget.

Another in state school like LSU does not feel those cuts as much with its big money boosters and football program that produces millions.

LSU actually transferred 11 million from its athletic department to its general fund to retain certain majors.

Smaller schools like Grambling and Southern cannot do that therefore, we bear the brunt of budget cuts from the state it resulting in using older facilities that probably should have been updated 20 years ago, getting rid of certain majors, etc.

Make no mistake about it though the education at GSU and other in state HBCUs is as good and most of the time better than other in state schools that are PWI.

If we had blue chip athletes oping to go to Grambling that would bring legitimacy, prestige, and most of all money. Then we could be able to complete with those ACC and SEC schools as far as facilities go. That could lead to us being in the College Bowl Playoff and the NCAA tournament. With all of that extra revenue, we could divert those funds to struggling departments and programs.

Make no mistake about it though the education at GSU and other in state HBCUs is as good and most of the time better than other in state schools that are PWI.

I had to fix that for you playboy.

It's not as easy to beat that system as you think, otherwise they would have done it already. College athletics is the only situation in sports that is actually comparable to real slavery. It's pretty fucked up when you really look into it. And by the way, going to a HBCU wouldn't stop those athletes from being exploited.

I agree with you alums should do more. Sadly our alums do not give back to our schools on the level that they do at PWIs. I believe there are many reasons for that that I will not go into.

Sadly, HBCU's probably will not ever be able to recruit on the same level as the PWIs unless its a change in attitude in the world class athletes.

The PWIs generally have TV deals, state of the art facilities, pro type camps with pro scouts, to combine with that the big money boosters. I know it's illegal under the NCAA guidelines, but we know those boosters and school big wigs sometimes hook those young men up with vehicles, jobs, spending money, and other incentives.

It's harder for HBCU's with much smaller endowments and budgets to compete with that. Combined with that you have the mindset a lot of these kids and their parents have that the bigger PWIs will give them the inside track to getting drafted, a pro league contract, and possible riches.

Facts

I am trying to understand why this discussion is so focused on sports as the only real way to generate money for schools. anywho...

in order for HBCU's to benefit from sports they need to break away from the NCAA and form an HBCUAA. This would allow them to sell themselves. As it is now they have to basically risk life and limb of their student athletes for a few dollars. Creating an HBCUAA would allow them to get tv deals and things of that nature. No they will not be all over CBS and ABC but there would definitely be a market in the south where most of them are located. Their focus wouldn't be on getting blue chip athletes to go to the schools but instead they can focus on good competitive games. The HBCUAA (probably needs a better name) should also include the CIAA even though they are division 2 schools.

if you're ranked in the top 100 in football and you decide to go to Hampton over Alabama you're stupid. I'm saying that as proud Hampton University Grad that smiles every time I see folks like Justin Durant, Chris Baker, or Kendall Langford on tv.

I think you're stupid if you choose Bama over Hampton.

a football player goes to bama because his goal is to get to the nfl. why would he choose Hampton or any other HBCU? College is a decision about your future. If the NFL is your future nigga better go to bama or ohio state or some shit. if the NBA is ur future then the nigga better go to Duke or Kentucky. I said the top 100. I didn't say every black kid with dreams of playing in the league. The top 100 know that they are going to league unless they fuck up something major.

Miss me with any bullshit about HBCU's. I graduated from one and my daughter goes to one so im cutting them a check every semester. I been doing that for the past 3 years.

faggot ass!
