I work in project Improvement and we deal with this all the time.
The secret to overcoming it is breaking the task/mission at hand into smaller, "bite sized" tasks if you will. This makes it easier to digest, faster to analyze and helps you with your planning.
For example...Mission is "how can I get that thick classmate in Bio class to touch my penis?"
Break this larger mission down into smaller missions:
Mission 1: introduce yourself (time for completion: one week)
Mission 2: have two good convos with her (time for completion: one week)
Mission 3: make her laugh at a joke (time for completion: one week)
Mission 4: con her into a study group at the library even though it'll just be your conniving ass waiting on her ("I don't know where everybody at")
Mission 13: get her to wrap her hand around your pipe for 30-60 seconds
You get the point.
