Aint no black actresses in Hollywood? This is nuts..

its not so much just zoe's skin tone fans of the late singer are just upset that nina who was a major cultural icon who defied the narrow ideals of beauty is now being played by someone who fits squarely into them ....especially considering the darkness of nina's skin was a running theme through her music and hollywood has a history of playing fast and loose with the appearance of black historical figures in films.

the movie also is a romance so the casting of zoe also raises the question is it still too much to see a darker skin black woman, lips full, nose wide play a viable love interest in a hollywood production?

hopefully zoe surprises us though and rises to the occasion considering not to many black biopics get the green light *shrugs*

lol u funny.... I watched multiple videos on youtube on this situation, and all of them are saying its foul they didnt get an african american to play the role of Nina. So to say nobody cares she´s a latina is a stretch.... I do understand what ur saying about her being lightskin and I do agree that they couldve selected someone who looked a little more like Nina, but I dont think Zoe taking the role shouldve caused the uproar like it has. Nina wasnt only pro dark skin black women, she spoke for all black women , mixed or w.e,with songs like ¨four women¨and others......This is nothing new, so again the question I ask is, what do we as the people do about it, other than complain on forums?
