Firstly, my critique was for the T/S and his ilk, not the interlopers.
hold on. you replied TO ME. if you want to make it strictly about the thread-starter, fine. but you don't get to direct a response at my post and then go "wait wait i'm not talking to you."

Secondly, show me the threads condemning Trujillo, Duvalier, etc.
secondly, you are aware that Castro just died in 2016, whereas Trujillo and Duvalier predate the very existence of the AHH forums by a slight amount, right? so the argument is that to criticize a dictator that JUST died, i have to go out and write a thread criticizing the excesses of Rafael Trujillo? do you know how ridiculous that sounds?

but again, and here's the point that was glossed over, you can criticize the US, the DR, whoever AND Castro at the same time. they're not mutually exclusive, and pointing out the US's misdeeds does not mean "oh, well then it doesn't matter what Castro did." if you'd like to make a more nuanced argument as to why the US embargo required Fidel to remain Dictator For Life, please proceed. but all i am hearing is "but but the US has done some shit."

In regard to the coup against Trujillo, the US prior to that, stopped a plotted coup against him. You may sound smart to someone who is dumb, but not to me.
so your statement was "The better question is why they responded to this specific dictator with those international pressures (assassination attempts, embargoes, etc.)" and when i point out that you literally name-dropped a guy the CIA supposedly worked to assassinate, instead of saying "okay, i guess he wasn't NEVER the victim of international pressures," you say "well, they also stopped a plot against him earlier." moving the goalposts just a little, no?

No, actually. My initial post, which you responded to, wasn't written for you.

I spend to much time reading in depth on these subjects to explain myself further to people who don't know.

actually, no, i didn't reply to your initial post. i replied to a SECOND post ("I say "who knows" because Castro may not have had access to the necessities for his people because of the embargo on his country. The OAS denied trade to the Cuban people to spite Castro for his politics, which caused him to embrace those politics more fervently. You can only hold Castro accountable for the decisions he made within the context of the choices he had") and you then replied to that. so to run it down:

01. why are you posting on a public forum and pretending people can't reply?

02. why did you quote me and reply to me only to pretend i'm now not allowed to do that because it's inconvenient to you?

03. why do you think someone's making a thread about Trujillo in 2016 because Castro just died?

translation: i'm too much of a fucking punk to respond.

had all this time to study up, had all this time to respond, but mysteriously doesn't have time to actually explain when the slightest debate occurs. got it. seriously, don't drop bullshit like "can't criticize the dictator that just died without criticizing every dictator EVER in individual threads" and pretend to be an intellectual.
