I hope Jay hears LIG and the love its getting to make a hot album. I don't give a fuck whose better, I just want more good music. Can Jay make a classic anymore? I don't think so. not because of his skill or anything but its the fact that people won't respect him spitting hustler stories at 45 so if he does that even if its a ill album people would hate it, and if he changes his style to se conscious hip hop, people will talk about how jay changed his style and hate it. but either way, I hope Nas' success lights a fire in jay and we get a dope album.

I'm also waiting for that AZ album now. Y'all know everytime Nas drops a dope album, AZ follows back with a dope album.

And yo, ima get a lot of hate but Blueprint ain't a classic to me. I love the album, the beats are fire, but lyrically jay was at his worst on most songs. Just my opinion though.

Good post. The question is, is Jay creative enough to craft an album that most cats relate to? Cuz dude likes to stay in his comfort zone.

imo kanye and Just work is why Blueprint is considered classic.

If Jay-z continues to sell 3 times that albums that Nas sells, doesn't more people relate to Jay. I mean at what point does logic kick in to you niggas, why would Jay make music for a bunch of niggas who he would never win over.

Exactly..lol Powerful statement.

@rong lol at you getting mad for people not really listening then you go around not really reading.

No one saying jay gonna listen to LIG and say damn nas snapped on this joint, and feel inspired to make a dope album.

the reality is, critics are loving LIG but not just that you got lebron James, Mary j, scarface and other rappers talking about how ill the album is. When Jay hears about the person his career is in twined with getting all this praise, his competitive nature might be like yo fuck all this shit ima show these nigas.

I hope that happens too. A dope Jay album would be appreciated.

BP3 got praise from everybody as well, and so did WTT.

I can't stand BP3, and the only song I like on WTT is Murder To Excellence.

Objectively, BP3 and WTT were wack as fuck. American Gangster was about selling heroin for the entirety of the album.

Jay hasn't brought the heat in 9 years and even The Black Album had its fair share of duds. So here we are, 11 years since Jay-Z crafted a great album.

The thing is Nas stans hate jay z. They will never admit that they like a new jay z album. They are all saying how LIG was critically acclaimed when WTT got better critics than LIG but they were swearing how bad it was.

The thing is, who judge of an album and say this one is a dope this one is not. I noticed that people in this forum people already have an opinion on jay z, and this opinion is that jay z music is bad.

I like Nas music, but what makes me support jay z in this eternal discussion is the hypocrisy of nas stans.

Shut up Stan.

@rong Yo I understand that too. like I said I'm a fan of jay yo. a big one too. Jay Z is Shawn carters charachter based on his own life, most things Jay Z raps about Shawn Carter actually lived, that's cool. Reason why I say that is, and what I use to back up my claim is that, Jay as an artist can not make some real thought or conscious music and be respected for it.

If nas makes a song about selling crack for money today, and then goes and makes a conscious song, a lot of people will like both songs. reason why is most nas fans today were nas fans in the year 2000 too, and we seen nas grow and grew with him, and people know nas for both and people will know that's how nas felt.

Jay Z as an artist can't do the same. Something can happen today, let's call it a man getting shot by the police for the sake of the argument, and it might effect Shawn Carter as a man and he might want to do a song about it. I'f he drops that song, it could dope and lyrically onpoint and people would be like what the fuck is jay raping about?

Reason why is because as Jay Z fans we don't wanna hear the thoughts of Shawn Carter, we want to here thoughts of the charachter Jay Z. and jay z don't give a fuck about a young man getting shot cause he too busy making a billion. That's why people will be like yo wtf to his song.

And don't misunderstand my post as I'm saying nas is better then jay, i am just making a personal analyses as why Jay can not drop a classic anymore.

my discussion only includes hip hop by the way. Jay is most def a bigger artist then nas in the mainstream. But my discussion is about the opinion of not nas or jay fans but as fans of hip hop. I don't expect a 17 year old in high school to understand what I'm saying. I'm just trying to get an opinion of hip hop heads. In hip hop, to all hip hop heads, jay and nas are and will always be intertwined. can't escape it.

Jay can do it if he works with the right people. I think Nas has surpassed him as far as growth and substance in his music, But life is good is going to make alot of people step their games up. Just like him saying hip hip is dead got people to pay more attention to their craft

I see the point you trying to make, but I don't think so....When you say Jay can't make thought or councious music thats respected, come on now...You really believe that man? And Jay Z is Shawn Carter, I don't see a character...I see the man who Jay raps about...He raps about EXACTLY what is going on in his life, which is the definition of REAL...I don't get the character thing.

This is my take on it..Jay Z has sooo many fans, that he makes music to cater to ALL his fans, various types...His fan base is waaaaaay bigger than Nas' fanbase, and Nas only makes music to cater to his fanbase which he has been doing for years...That's the difference between the two...But they both rap about the same things, just in different ways and one may rely heavy on one topic than the other but they both cover ALL topics

Nas has alot more classics than Jay-Z, im a fan of both...

Nas Classics - ILLmatic, IWW, Stillmatic, Lost Tapes, Gods Son, Untitled, Distant relatives....

Jay Classics - RD, Blueprint, Black Album

My only questions are if BP3 and WTT are wack how do they do so well? Why do so many people like the album? Why do the critics give it high ratings? Why are the singles chart topping? Is that really a wack album or an album thats not your taste personally?

Sales dont = good. And he markets his albums very well. One good track with a tour at the same time helps alot. And who decides which singles make the top of the charts? Money still talks

Not just sales...Critics love the albums, songs, etc....Empire State Of Mind did well, EVERBODY love that song...So you trying to tell me thats not a good song? It's because he marketed it well? Come on now

Because this is an era where wack music sells.
