T/S, this isn't a fair question. You're asking it on a hip hop forum. Who do you think they'll take?

shit i cant tell itz a hiphop 4um by sum of da dumb shit im readin n herr smh....

Tupac (and his producers) and Kurt Cobain (and Nirvana) each had 75 million records sold a piece.

Tupac was a loud mouth, always in the news, movie star, flashy, semi-revolutionary, black panther, shot several times, dropped 6 albums in his lifetime of which 3 were critically acclaimed, and was murdered in Las Vegas in a high profile gang related incident (really an inside job).

Kurt Cobain was passive, avoided the news, dressed shitty, was a heroin addict, completed four albums in his lifetime of which two were critically acclaimed and was purported to have killed himself in a quite Seattle suburb (really an inside job).

Now with all that Pac did in his life you would think that his sales would far surpass ol' regular Joe ass Kurt Cobain's but for some reason they are exactly the same.

And for anyone who said, "Oh Kurt Cobain was in a band!" Well, Pac similarly had producers but didnt serve as the main contributor to any of his productions like Kurt did with his guitar.

Its pretty clear who's "music" was more impact full, as a matter of fact, Nirvana transcended and defined music outside of their genre. Pac didnt change rap or popular music at all.

Now for the bigger persona and image, Pac without a doubt.

pac hav statues in and out of the US

it aint hard 2 tell who music is more liked

yeah but liking the music and having an impact on music are two different things, statues don't dictate musical impact but rather the popularity of the person

"Jada don't fuck with me, if you wanna eat...cause I'll do ya lil ass like Jay did mobb deep" - 50 cent

without Dr.Dre you would just make slow jams

come up outta that witness protection program

Hov don't really respect you, get in ya place

if Big was alive he'da probably spit in ya face

Nas been doin' just fine without you (esco)

and pac probably woulda made an album about you - Jada

Pac...Pac was about the rising up and overcoming of the oppressed and went about it in a strategic way thru music. But i dont know what kurt cobain was really "about", or if there was any method to his madness. I do know that lonely suburban kids identified with his music/lyrics tho.

Hardcore fans of Cobain and 2pac felt they were visionaries, genius, and a Messiah of epidemic proportions. Objectively, we don't know if either artist would prove to be such a genius over time. Whose to say that had either or both artists lived, we wouldn't think of them as washed-up has-beens now?

What makes them similiar died near the height of their popularity. It's easy to remember them as great.
