Also, one style is necessarily better than the next. It's based on how well the emcee delivers it. Biggie delivered his style with ease, Big Pun struggled on some Talib Kweli trying to catch the beat shit with his style. If you want to hear flawless syllable rhyming, listen to BDK or Kool G. Those guys do it fluently.
In sum, Biggie rapped better, he had a wider range of topics, his flow was iller, his punches hit harder, his albums sound better, his impact was greater etc. It's basically like comparing a street ball legend to a perennial NBA All-star.

Let's please stop this lyrics PUN > BIG as if joints like Dream Shatterer were done without numerous stops, whereas a joint like Long Kiss Goodnight was done all in one take.

this is the realest comment in this whole thread. i have nothing more to add other than saying pun better than biggie is like saying iverson better than jordan.
without biggie there is no pun, without jordan there is no iverson.
and biggie and jordan output and longevity> pun and iverson
and iverson and pun both say/said jordan/biggie are the goats
how ima be better than the guy i admit is the goat and my inspiration and i have way less output and longevity
thats like asking who better michael jackson or usher

Not sure how this is even a real question.
Capital Punishment is a great album tho.

Cosign, even though I disagree with the bold. To me, Big Daddy Kane is better than KGR. So many different styles, and his flips his verses with ease.

Go to any random person who's not a hip-hop nerd like the people on this site and ask them to name32 Pun songs. Now do the same for any other universal GOAT artist (Nas, Big, Jay, Pac etc.)
Shit ask any rap artist to list 2 Pun songs... I GUARANTEE you everyone will draw a blank. I know this is the internet where everyone boosts their favorite artist on some internet warrior shit, but be honest, nobody knew him. He was a niche artist who was a nobody on the big scene. To sum it up, he was a dude in Fat Joe's camp.

DR. JEK;4484798 said:Yeah, its almost more of a popularity contest than who's actually better at rappin. I like big too and his music legacy speaks for itself but he just wasn't a monster like pun is. It reminds me of the ll cool j canibus battle. Anybody that listens to lyrics carefully knows canibis ate ll up but because because shit alway turns into who made the most hits, its like ll automatically won to people. Its sickening when its not based on rap skills alone
