ive got a buddy moving to ATL with a girl who he's dated for less than a year.

they seem extremely happy, and i'm wishing them the best, her parents want him to propose before they move.

me personally, i feel like they're already moving....if it doesnt work out, no reason to have to deal with moving back AND a divorce....

I think neither. But you'll get more shit from the older folks in your family or church if you've been living with a girl for a while without marrying her then you would if you were to get a divorce from the person you're with. But it's no more then some finger wagging and people telling you to go ahead and step up and marry her. I think people need to "shack up" before even thinking about marriage.

So then I guess shacking up is more frowned upon then divorce.

What's this "community" you speak of?

by community i mean immediate family, friends and others you interact with

your community of personal and interpersonal contacts.

both seem to be the norm over here so it's kind of hard to decide...I am not a fan of shacking up, personally.

In my family I believe it's divorce, it seems like my grandparents hate my aunt for getting divorced. but they have no problem with my sister living with her bf.

Neither is looked down upon. Why do you think both are so prevalent? Instant gratification is whats hot in the streets.

NEITHER...shit happens...live long enough and you will go thru one or the other and maybe both.....but my mom is steady trying to guilt trip me about me and my current roommate ( wife), and my response to her every time is u marry her then......being gay is more frowned upon in "my community" than either of these put together(10).

neither.

shacking up is the right thing to do because everyone can't live together.

life is too long to be unhappy, so divorce happens.

but I really don't like when a couple have kids that are as old as the relationship but there is no marriage in place. I don't necessarily believe in marriage but it is kinda weird still.

That is a little crazy. Yall got kids, a house, and a car but yall not married? And I'm not talking about people who don't believe in marriage. Its less crazy to me when I see the end result. Those 2 people broke up...... 1 or both of them obviously knew that shit would have been a mistake. That's why you can't really look at folks crazy. They know what they're doing. Well if you don't included buying a house and car together....dummy.
