We need black men and black women to become lobbyists to push are agenda on our behalf in Washington D.C ,because if we don't these politicians are not going give a damn about courting our votes in the future when we are eventually replace by Latinos/Hispanic population .
The irony of this whole conversation is that people believe change will come by sitting at home. These same people that claim voting doesn't matter only vote in presidential elections. These same people that claim voting doesn't count couldn't name their state reps without a Google search. It's like getting upset at a TV that doesn't work because u haven't plugged it in.
They repeat talking points and make false equivalencies instead of actually researching. It's hilarious and sad at the same time.

The very first word and image you see when you click on this thread is "Action". Everything I spoke about was about application aka action. This whole thread is dedicated to discussing and applying alternative solutions. Not one person in here encouraged anyone to "sit at home" nor will they.
The question is what are our alternatives to voting? And can we change things without voting?
There's no way you're going to live in america and not be affected by government, especially as a minority. What world do u live in?? This election may have 150 million people voting in a country that has 300 million. The action of not voting has us where we are. So is your plan to overthrow government?? How do u enact meaningful change from the outside, with protests or whatever??
@manofmorehouse
Doing the same thing has kept us where we are. Voting is a verb but it's not an action.
Doing is the action.
What does The systematic racism, mass incarceration, and vindication of the murdering of Black and Brown people have to do with voting?
What does the criminality of Black and Brown people have to do with voting?
What does a false narrative via all forms of media promote about Black and Brown people have to do with voting?
What does the denial of resources or small business loans have to do with voting?
A solution was already presented with the idea of creating a resource hub where the people come together and use their collective resources to build the needs of the community. And community dollars stay recycled, which would also build individual and community economy. That alone is a powerful solution.
Another solution would be that we reconsider the way we trade with each other. As a human being with free choice of mind and will, we can decide what and how we trade. Two or more people can make a conscious decision to trade 3 cars for a boat, or a vacuum for a guitar, or a vacuum for $20, or a tv for some services, etc.
We can determine individually and collectively what we value. We can redefine "value". If it's not literally nourishing you, keeping you alive or providing energy, "value" becomes subjective. An apple is valuable because my body uses the elements of that apple as energy for my well-being. A piece of paper or a painting, is only as valuable as I allow it to be.
Another way we change things from the outside, like you asked, is by literally going outside and planting a seed and growing our own food. Even if you're in an apartment. Plant and grow your food. Occupy vacant space and plant something. A tree, greens, herbs, aloe, something. Utilizing our local natural resources is gonna take us to another level altogether. Action over policy, Photosynthesis doesn't care about man-made policy, because it's a natural law.
There are many effective and powerful things we can do, or actions we can take, or things we can put in motion and establish, without voting. This thread is about highlighting those actions.
We can't ask permission to do the right thing.
