Actually i think its def a reflection of internalized racism.

Our brothers in South Africa were called kaffirs (which has the same connotation as nigger) and they actually banned it, they never tried to identify themselves as kaffirs

South Africa:

Act No. 4 of 2000: Promotion of Equality and Prevention of Unfair Discrimination Act.

10. (1) Subject to the proviso in section 12. no person may publish, propagate, advocate or communicate words based on one or more of the prohibited grounds, against any person, that could reasonably be construed to demonstrate a clear intention to -

(a) be hurtful;

(b) be harmful or to incite harm;

(c) promote or propagate hatred.

I dont know how anyone can justify how the old man did not like being called a nigga.

He actually saw people get hanged and called a nigga/nigger.

Let's not play stupid with history.

Also, here's a history lesson in the English Language (aka etymology).

In the southern dialect, which is usually referred as Black English, the 'r' sound was always dropped before a consonant, when it was pronounced. Hence, the word 'Nigga', not Nigger.

example: Nigger-> Nigge-> Nigg-> Nigg-a -> Nigga

Also, etymology for your niggers, the word OK is from a West African Language called, Mande and/or Bantu, which was called, "Oki".

them young niggas look like pussies. I bet if old dude was younger, he would have mopped them up on GP. He already looked like he was ready to sock those giggling ass bitches.

Nobody died because of that word. People give that shit way too much power. It's just a word. People died because of racism, and maybe that word was in the mix, but it's silly to act like the word is a cause of racism as opposed to a result.

You're much smarter than that.

People can nosign and call what I said wack all the want, but I bet no one can launch a logical counter. The N word is just a word and that's all it is. It's only as powerful as we make it. This ain't the 50s and 60s, and even then, it wasn't the word that was hurtful, it was everything that was behind it. White people weren't stringing black people up because of the N word. That would have done that shit whether they had that or not. Again, no one died because of that word. People died because white people were racist pieces of shit, and the word is a symptom of that not a cause.

Challenge accepted.

Here is proof someone died when that word was used:

A black New Jersey cop facing a possible life sentence for the racially charged road-rage slaying of a white driver told The Post in his first extensive interview that he was protecting his family and, “I know the law is on my side.’’

Joseph Walker, 40, an 18-year veteran assigned to the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office, fatally shot Joseph Harvey, 36, during a confrontation on June 8 on I-97, just south of Baltimore.

Modal Trigger

Joseph Harvey

Walker, of Eastampton, NJ, was driving a Kia minivan carrying wife Marie and their three young kids. Harvey was in a green Honda Accord carrying one person.

Walker cut Harvey off when both vehicles tried to make a left turn at the same place.

The two drivers exchanged angry words as their cars swerved around each other on the shoulder of the road.

Both eventually came to a halt, and Harvey, an unmarried truck driver, allegedly shouted racial epithets as he approached the officer’s van.

Walker fired several shots from six to 12 feet away at Harvey, who was unarmed.

Walker was charged with murder and is free on $1 million bail. He was suspended from his job without pay.

People die due to that word more than you'd think it seems:

A Manchester man was sentenced to prison Tuesday for shooting a man after an exchange of words.

Related

In August, Tony Hebert, 29, pleaded guilty to manslaughter for killing Pablo Samaniego, 21. During Tuesday's sentencing, the judge called the event a tragedy and a death that didn't need to happen.

Prosecutors said that in July 2011, Hebert shot and killed Samaniego at the corner of Ferry and Main streets in Manchester. The victim called Hebert some racial slurs as Hebert was driving by.

Judge David Garfunkel said Hebert could have made the choice to keep driving.

"You had every opportunity to drive away, and you said in your sentencing memorandum that you would have done so if you didn't have that gun," Garfunkel said.

Instead of driving away, Hebert waited and then shot Samaniego at close range.

"He was a caring brother," said Julio Samaniego, the victim's brother. "I miss him, and I won't be able to see him ever again."

Hebert was sentenced to 14 to 30 years in prison.

If he was a white new jersey cop who shot a black dude you think he would have been charged with murder and given a million dollar bail? Hell fucking No.

That's my stance on it. People also act like nigger was the only word people used like and words like jiggaboo, darkie, boy, coon, monkey...etc wasn't just as offensive.

Nigga is a colloquial term now, it is what it is. The constantly scrutiny ain't gonna change it, it's just a word. The apparatus now has new words for the record, they don't have to call you a nigger now they can call you a crack junkie or welfare queen, an imbecile or moron (terms they used when they ran forced sterilization on us). Folks marginalizing their own plight believing the world would be a better place if only we could get rid of the word nigger, yeah fuckin right.

Not the same bro. The South African word Kafir comes from the arabic word "Kafir" which means infidel or outsider. So when whites in South Africa called blacks "kafir" they were essentially calling them outsiders in their own homeland. A word like that could never be flipped because it represents in it's essence how white people came from Europe, took over and then pushed the native people to the bottom of society.

Like I said, nigger comes from nigre which means Black in latin. Before it was a slur it was a neutral term for Blacks. We also can't ignore connotation. The only reason "nigger" is an insult is because we're told that it is. It'd be different if Black people were walking around calling each other porch monkeys--then I'd see your point about internalized racism.

if he's 74 he was saying nigga back in the black exploitation days, but if that's his opinion he has a right

Kinda ducked up to say "stop saying nigga" then say I'll shoot you for saying nigga and disrespecting your culture.

Wouldn't shooting a young dude be disrespectful to the culture?

Yeah it's too late to bury the word nigga.it's a wrap

Real shit I'm pretty sure black-on-black gun violence is more of an issue amongst the black community then "the n-word"
