Dreicer did not work on her case, but said under Florida law, after Stand Your Ground was dismissed and she was convicted, Alexander is looking at a mandatory minimum sentence of 20 years.

For firing a warning shot into the ceiling of her own house? WTF? She would have gotten less time if she killed him.
Seems like she argued, left the room, came back, and fired off a shot:Bando Calrissian;4313692 said:Dreicer did not work on her case, but said under Florida law, after Stand Your Ground was dismissed and she was convicted, Alexander is looking at a mandatory minimum sentence of 20 years.

“The defendant had split seconds to decide if she was in fear for her life and ultimately the judge found that there were other things she could have done like leave the residence through a front door or a back door,” said defense attorney Jesse Dreicer.

when the alleged incident occured, Marissa said she was about to leave her abusive husband when he confronted her in the bathroom and began to choke her. She wrote that she ran but while in the garage she realized she couldn't open the garage doors because of a mechanical failure and she had also forgotten her phone and keys. Trapped, she allegedly went back to retrieve them, thinking he had already left because he was on his way out with her two stepsons.
Again, according to Marissa, he did not leave but came back minus the children and shouted, "Bitch, I will kill you!" She said he charged towards her, so she took out the gun she had taken from her truck and fired a warning shot towards the ceiling. Her husband supposedly ran away then and called the police.
the now ex-hubby allegedly told police that she had tried to kill him and the children, and obviously they took his word over hers. Even though marissa had a restraining order and a filed police complaint of spousal abuse. smdh
and same as zimmerman marissa had a gun permit so doesn't Stand Your Ground stipulate that one can stand their ground and use deadly force if they felt threatened or feared for their life and do not have to retreat?
florida is got chere losing.... if she gets 25 yrs for firing a shot into the ceiling of her own house ...but than zimmerman gets off for killing someone... i will be the first to storm into my local best buy bat in hand. lol... shit is ridiculous

shame on her for trying to retrieve the rest of her things so she could leave and call the police, she just should've stayed trapped in her garage. with no phone or way out... right??? lol
shame on her for using an incredible amount of restraint in the face of perceived danger.. when she could've just killed him
