Yes a rapist knows they're going to rape just like a robber knows he's going to rob. What "provokes" them is the same thing that makes a robbery victim stand out to a robber...Certain things they look for to show that you're not completely aware of your surrounding, people you're with, and what you're doing. So no rape can't be provoked, but certain shit you do can make you stand out as a potential target for it.
