Fellas, I'm gonna skip on Brazil. I've looked into it a bit more and I think I'd like to spend at least 8-10 weeks there. Instead I'll hit London for 2 weeks at the end of summer and drive up to Toronto for a few days before I start my semester.

5 Reasons

1. I graduate University in December and won't start work until July/Aug. Jan-Jun will be used for around the world travel.

2. Brazilians speak almost no English. If you want to go and really enjoy it (from what I've read) you have to know some decent Portuguese. I speak French at a decent level and I'm sure a semester of Portuguese at my college plus a weekly Portuguese Meetup group fro 3-4 months will suffice.

3. I'd prefer to go during low time. Olympics will jack a lot prices through the roof. I'd rather go in January and leave a little after Carnival.

4. I really want to explore the Nigerian and African history in Brazil. That will take more time and will require venturing to lesser known cities.

5. Gotta stack some more cheddar. This trip will cost a pretty penny.

@2stepz_ahead you think 8 weeks in Brazil sounds good, or too much time in one place.

it all depends on what you plan on d0ing.

but you will become fluent in the language

You think so? Wow! As a Nigerian, French is more beneficial to me but I'll take some Portuguese as well.

I plan to do some travel to the major cities. Rio, Sao Paulo, Forte Leze, Salvador (huge black population), but more importantly, checkout the Nigerian-Brazilian Museum.

17 days until Cabo! I'm eliminating all carbs starting today. Can't wait to stay at this brand new resort. Looks fire!

Y'all always stay on resorts when u travel?

sometimes you want to be catered to and away from local fukkery.

a vacation should be just that.

while i understnand everyone can handle themselves in the hoods...why pay money to have to handle yourself.

at some point you need a break from that

in my opinion...in the DR ...black people are treated better and like they belong.

in mexico....you just a nigga whos here..

but both are all inclusive and have nice beaches, the DR has better women to look at.

both can be inexpensive

one is redneck spanish the other slang spanish

I feel that that's subjective. What u experience on a resort is basically the same everywhere. Experiencing he country outside the resort is where the differences are. I went to Jamaica last year and didn't leave the resort. Did I really go to Jamaica? Because what I experienced last year is totally different than the Jamaica I experiences when I went to Kingston and the country (real Jamaica) when I was younger

so are you going for the people and culture or are you going to a location for a vacation...it ll depends on your reasons...

i go to the hoods in the DR...but dont feel i can relax and not owrry about not paying for shit like i do on the beach resorts. i need water, jetskis, all you can eat and drink sometimes. other times.. i want to chill on the block and send my lil homies to the store for fried fish and jugo de chinola.

Just because you stay at a resort doesn't mean you have to stay ON the resort. You can leave the resort and see the country and the people. I do it all of the time. It doesn't have to be either or. And all All Inclusive resorts are not created equal. There are really nice ones and there are some shabby ones. Kind of like comparing hotels..... an America's Best is not the same as a Ritz Carlton.
