I haven't gone but my fam has, idk about a visa I suppose it depends what passport you're using. I think Americans can go as long as it isn't for "solely tourist reasons" but I hear they are lax

I went through Canada. The airline gave me a tourist visa which was part of the flight tix.

Also the us currency get a 10% penalty plus they don't accept cc issued by a us bank at the moment. I exchanged my money for Canadian and then exchanged that for CUC

Yo I been thinking about Cuba as well

And how is the language barrier there?

Did alot of them know english, or are you bilingual in spanish?

Probably spent like 4 and change on the tix and bought like $500 to spend. Food are cheap in Cuba. breakfast was like $5, dinner like $7-$10. Our apt we rented was $25 a night. I can post pics of what the apt look like when I get home

The bus we took from mantaza to Havana was like $7.

Cuba has 2 currencies. CUC and Cuban pesos. CUC is what you get when you convert your foreign currency and is 1 to 1 with USD. Only problem is that there is a 10% penalty so your actually getting less. 1 CUC = 25 Cuban pesos, so if you tip a local 1 CUC, you're actually handing them 25 pesos. Majority of the tourist area takes CUC and the locals seem more content when you give them CUC

Far as language barriers, most of the workers in tourist area speak English. Some locals speak English as well but majority will speak Spanish. I'm a bilingual speaker so I was fine for the most part.
