Let these people tell it, Jay should have launched Tidal with Gucci Mane and Fetty Wap or Talib Kweli and Mos Def, because then and only then would he have proven himself to be down for the cause.

All jokes aside having a Talib or Big Krit wouldn't have hurt. He went full hipster with Jack White/DaftPunk/Chris Martin then played a radio head song for a part of the conference.

Look at this way. If you buy one cd a month every month regardless of the genre why not support a premium streaming service? Instead of getting only on cd with 12 to 15 songs you get unlimited music and a little better sound quality.

Black ppl aren't the only race of people who listen to jay. And music is to be viewed and interpreted buy the buying public. The biggest smear campaign against Jay is his own lackluster Launch. Sure Spotify and Google and the powers that be are taking advantage of the situation to grow their brands and are taking indirect shots. But its not like they have commercials right now attaching jay or tweeting about jay z. Most critisizm was from journalist and bloggers who saw flaws in the initial launch that were valid. The launch was tone deaf to musicians who are filthy rich like those that were on stage.

Jays promises to help the "fan" and the artist in a half assed way put music streaming in a brighter light. So Spotify used it to grow their brand which at one point during the first few weeks of tidal spotify saw a groth spurt. But Jays promise to cut the middle man but the fan has to pay more (no free version) or just as much was a terrible mistake. Not tom mention at the launch Tidal did not explain from a users perspective what made them different outside hq music. It was o
