It will forever fascinate me how bad news travels faster or how people have so much to say about why a man is losing versus how a man won.

That article doesn't mean anything but that ppl are narrow-minded. Jay bought Tidal for I think $50 million and it was on a downward spiral at that point. He paid less than what it was worth to save the brand, the financial statements from the prior years are there for everybody to download free of charge. It takes years before businesses like this can turn around immediately not 5 minutes or 2 weeks SMMFH. Niggas are really trying to base an entire business with a dozen employees and markets all over the world like an album "Tidal didn't crack the top 100 las--" no shit doofus he bought it to turn it around and use it's platform to serve him.

But still I'll leave yall in yall squabbles. In 5 years time Tidal will make Jay-Z very wealthy. As with any business you have to let time run it's course before you be the judge. Warren Buffett bought Kraft and it has a failing food business so he merged it with Heinz to make it more efficient, it's going to take several years before the company starts piling out larger cashflows and several lay-offs later......

i could care less about how much money Jay makes and this is coming from a big hova fan. what i want to see is how they will compete in this market. fuck cash flow how much will their market share grow? Time will tell and yes it is early. However there was allot of ignorance in the marketing and message from the launch and start of Tidal.

It's the same viewpoint i have with Roc Nation Sports. Ok you got cano but his brand ain't been shit since he left NYC. Ok you got KD which by default is going to sell shoes for days for the next decade plus. But what is Roc Nation doing to help his image. Same with CC etc. etc.

My gripe with Hov recently is yes hes investing money and he is a black man doing his thing. But I want to see some of these big boy ventures do some shit on another level. Not pretty much use your brand and money like every other rich white folk running companies.

Everyone has to start somewhere and there's not such thing as a perfect launch or score. The company was in dire straights prior and he's trying to salvage and save the company. With I think Tidal is actually the future for artists in general and the ultimate platform to sell your music. I think his goal was to buy the subscriber base and move his units on them. I don't understand the "like every other rich white folk running companies". It's just business at the end of the day. Don't spend more than what you make, keep costs low, invest the difference wisely be patient. Jay is on the right track it's just going to take time. I guarantee when forbes list next year comes around Jay will have a GOAT train in that post and niggas will praise him forgetting that many months ago they was shittin on him.

Yes and no. You can't honestly say between Roc Nation Sports and Tidal hov did market research before launching. He may learn in the long run but hes failed to research and educate himself before launches. Hes depending too much on his name and his fame versus taking a good 6 months plus to research both the sports agency venture and online music streaming.

Any true businessman spends time doing research. I have never felt hov has done that for these ventures. He seemed to rush this launch versus really looking at what he could do to change the game then re-branding the music service in the states.

you know something we don't? you in jays inner circle? you talking like you took a peep into this niggas browser history or something. you just talking out your ass now. we don't know how much research he has or hasn't done. but since this isn't his first business venture and has a pretty respectable track record I think he deserves the benefit of the doubt as far as how much effort he put into this (although I admitted weeks ago having all those top artists at the press conference sent the wrong message)

I also didn't know roc nation sports was a failure. I thought their priority was to ensure their athletes get paid all their worth. you've seen suh's cano's and durant's contract numbers?

I think they're getting the job done

no roc nation sports goal is to expand the brand and marketing of athletes while the AAC agency has the goal of getting them paid. Cano and Durant and others have gotten paid thanks to AAC not Roc Nation. On the roc nation tip they haven't don't anything to expand or grow the brand. Again KD will sell shoes for decades but what has Roc Nation done to do anything above and beyond what any other agency would have done? Likewise AAC got Cano paid but from a marketing standpoint roc nation hasnt done much to keep Cano a national baseball figure.

As far as Tidal i don't have to be in Hovs inner circle to know the launch of Tidal was ignorant to the target market of High Quality music fans. Likewise the Launch was filled with rich musicians not middle road indie or start up artists. It screamed hey im rich but let me get more money. Which turned off customers and actually gave increased membership and streams to competitors as shown earlier in this thread.

People act like billionaires were successful from the jump. you look at any entrepreneur who is self-made and they probably weren't successful from their first try

not to mention all he's done for seattle's local market. NY isn't the end all be all. the Yankees name is what's selling tickets in the Bronx. Cano's name is what's selling tickets in Seattle. explain to me how that's bad for his brand

cano is fine and that's just one player. they have a dozen more and I'm not about to look into all of their endorsements cuz I don't care enough to do so. nothing about roc nation sports has deemed a failure up til this point

I personally dont give a fuck.

I have enough music to not have to stream from anybody and when I want to listen to new shit I look it up and if I like it I will pay for it.

However you can't call it failure after 2 weeks. Guess its just the times we live in but things like this take time to get off the ground. trial and error my dudes.

Im sure Jay knows about the potential losses he could take but if you think about that and let them hold you back you will never be successful.

What he eat dont make me shit but I respect the move. If he fails oh well if he succeeds thats cool too.

Niggas said roc nation and roc sports was gonna fail too soooooooooooo..... When wayne them was having threir run they swore j cole should run

Wait so now roc nation sports is failing becuz they don't get the athletes 20 endorsement deals a piece or something??? Lol man these athletes is getting record breaking deals after signing with roc nation that they probably wouldn't have gotten otherwise and if you think roc nation sports is failing that must mean you think roc nation management is failing too becuz they have a long list of entertainers they mange and I don't see they brand growing either.....

KD signed a $200+ million dollar deal with Nike after signing with roc nation...Cano signed a $200+ million dollar deal after signing with roc nation....Dez Bryant finna get cashed out after he's just signed with roc nation... If that's failing then point me in the direction becuz I'll take that fail any day....dudes is becoming quarter of a billionaires and you talking bout sum damn brand??? Lmao

I just got spotify last week. Doing the 30 day free trial of premium and I'm keeping it after that. I work in a place where i can bring a speaker and blast my music so streaming a playlist offline and not having to use any data makes it worth it to me. Plus they got a 50% off discount for college students...this particular streaming service works for me. having this doesn't make me wana not buy albums or anything either. ima still support the artists i like.

as far as tidal goes i don't see what the problem is. i'm not getting it cuz i'm not an audiophile nor am i interested in paying $20 a month for any service at this point in my life. as a broke college kid, i understand i'm not the demographic. down the line tho this very well might be something i look into.

The bolded is false look at the prices for resale tickets for the game today
http://www.stubhub.com/mariners-vs-astros-4-22-2015-9158387/ lower level tickets are $20. King Felix is what sells tickets in Seattle he is the figurehead there. He has his own fan section and when he is pitching he fills up the place more. All you see on sports center from seattle is Felix Hernadez.

And the thing is Roc Nation clearly messed up situations like Lil B vs Kevin Durant. They should have told KD to apoligize for going at the based god on twitter. Instead that boy Lil B cooked and KD is injured the next summer. The rest is history and the Thunder are not in the playoffs. Roc nation should have got the press together had KD apologize and let the Based God fuck his bitch. If that was done KD doesnt get hurt multiple times and him and Westbrook at playing right now in the playoffs.

Tidal is a big disaster. Falls out of top 700 in the App Store while Spotify and Pandora move into the top 5 spots. They saying it's showing every sign of a business that's on the verge of failing in the very near future.

:(

Nah y'all Jay in panic mode. Obviously whatever Tidal is offering isn't gonna make subscribers leave Spotify. He entered into a very competitive sector and the possibility of failure is very real.

Jay Z's streaming service Tidal isn't doing so well. It already bricked on the Apple app store, and it appears that the service has lost the social support of one of its biggest supporters yet: Kanye West has deleted his tweets about the company. Ye, who appears in the multiple commercials for the service and stood on stage next to Jay during the weird press conference, has erased any mention of the company on his Twitter feed. Not only that, but he changed his profile picture back from the Tidal logo to the George Condo, My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy picture.

It's worth noting that Kanye did just defend the service and more so the artists involved in his recent Paper Mag feature, where he said that he got upset when people linked them to the illuminati. "Not celebrities that gave their life to music and who are pinpointed as decoys for people who really run the world. I'm tired of people pinpointing musicians as the Illuminati. That's ridiculous," West said.

So, is Kanye just embarrassed about the backlash the site has received since launch or what? Who knows, but it seems like something is up

Sources are reporting Jay pleaded for Yeezy to get back in the office and call Tidal users. As Kanye walked out he reported said, "I thought you were a businessman Jay? I thought you had it from here Jay damn!"
