yah its stupid because obviously every gun is designed to kill.
not just that, but you're telling me that intent no longer matters because my gun looks wicked? FOH

the bolded is why I hate gun control so much

ironically growing up I prob could relate more to pro gun control folks since I grew up in a city with a lot of gun violence that personally affected me

but as I grew older and got to experience living in different areas I started realizing that there is a real sensible purpose in preserving individual gun rights

my biggest beef with the who gun control schtick is that it is a real lazy way of really addressing the root of many problems we have today

it's easy to just scratch the surface and propose taking away everybody's guns without considering that it would only exacerbate other problems...........and anyone who truly believes in self-determination and real freedom couldn't possibly be cool with only rich folks and govt folks having the ability to protect themselves

gun control is truly un-American IMO

basically this. this state here has severe problems with employment, drugs, crime, and yet the solution is typically "well, we should ban some guns that were in a movie in the 1980s" or "well, you need a background check and a license to take a background check you buy a gun." accomplishes nothing but a feel-good political point-scoring moment.

meanwhile, the cities still need fucking jobs. but we won't worry about that.

speaking of which, does anybody have specific brands/companies that they don't like when it comes to firearms?

I know @janklow has already spoken of his love for Glock haha

but I wonder if anybody else has companies that they just don't like for whatever reason (besides Hi-Point)

also, any brands u favor?

me personally I cannot seem to allow myself to like anything made byTaurus............Ruger is another company that I just don't fuck with even tho lately I have seen some stuff from them that has made me reconsider my aversion to the Ruger.......I still can't convince myself to give that company my own money tho

and Walther has slowly become one of my more preferred brands....I really enjoy shooting some of their pistols even tho I believe some of the designs are unnecessarily too quirky for my tastes

I'm seriously considering buying a .308 Remington action and putting it inside of a Cadex Defense chassis:
https://www.cadexdefence.com/products/chassis/dual-strike/

a buddy of mine has one that he bought custom made for his Tikka cause he doesn't like Remington actions for some reason....and I have to say that is one serious rifle

I love my tikka but I really ain't into long range shooting.

I have more a perspective on sporting arms than just shooting or self-defense. I really don't like Mossberg shotguns, I think they are chincy, and I've never liked the way they fit me.

I fuck with the intertia-driven shotguns for semi-autos, most of the auto-loader shotguns under the Benelli/Beretta umbrella have inertia-driven recoil systems.

The only shotgun i've ever had that has given me serious problems was a damn Stoeger, which is the value line of Benelli shotguns. They are labeled as having the same internal parts at the Benelli guns, but they are not machined to the same quality.

In the bird hunting world guys who shoot benelli or beretta loooooove to let every one know they shoot a benelli. I guess I would too if paid $1600 for a shotgun.

ehhh not really

i admittedly have mostly surplus/C&R in this vein and i never really shoot any of it. but everyone should have SOMETHING with a little more range to it.

i don't like Glocks and it took me until 2016 to own one. but they're not BAD guns and i can think of legit reasons to recommend them.

the obvious "pass" companies are the ones like Hi-Point and Taurus (and even they have a decent model or two). might be worth looking critically at modern-era Remington guns (and stuff under its umbrella). everything else is a reputable company with pros and cons.

also, i crunched the numbers on whose firearms i own the most of and it's basically this:

01. Beretta

02. HK, CZ, S&W

03. SIG

admittedly, some of this is circumstantial, but i do have a soft spot for Beretta. that list is all handguns and one shotgun, though.

nothing wrong with a 590A1.

They too big for me so I'm biased. And their forearms are like gripping a horse cock no homo.

So I'm debating taking the stock off my AR, thus legally making it a pistol and available for use in in my shotgun only zone for deer. Almost wouldn't feel right tho. Under 75 yards tho I think it would be a wrap for any deer standing broadside.

what's funny is I got two Mossberg shotguns and never really been that impressed with either of them

I bought them only cause Mossberg and Remington were the only shotguns I was familiar with growing up and I couldn't find the Remington I was looking for

however I rarely shoot shotguns these days.........funny u mentioned Benelli cause my brother has one

that mofo just loves to talk about how great it is too haha........just like u I figured the price tag is what makes him praise his Benelli so much

I guess we all like to justify our purchases whenever we can just to reaffirm our judgment when spending money

what's ur beef with Glocks tho?

I have my legit criticisms for Glock, especially when their design includes some pretty spectacular flaws when it comes to a part breaking........I've literally seen and heard of instances where there are negligent discharges, mag seating failures and even the entire slide fallin off during a gun fight

but mainly what I hate about Glock is the brand's group of fanboys........I swear they are extra obnoxious...and a lot of them tend to be snobby ass cops too

but Glocks themselves are pretty great functional pistols if u really know the quirks about them......if they ever make nightsights and ambi grips standard Glocks might fuck up the game

Beretta is a good pistol....their parent company FNH makes great barrels...........however I personally have an aversion to Beretta because of my experience in the military of almost dying while using one

it wasn't the Beretta pistol's fault, but it was our training at the time and it being my 1st time using a pistol in combat left me with a real negative complex about Beretta........the pistols are actually good tho

HK.....great pistols, never handled a bad one

CZ......seen a few, not too familiar with them

S&W......not really a fan of the company's leadership, but their semi-autos are good to great, and their discounts are great

SIG......yeah, I love fucking SIG pistols, never had a regret spending that money.....my P320 is everything a Glock wishes it could be haha

going to admit that i don't love shotguns that much. only own the following brands: Mossberg, Beretta, IAC. but you know what? i kind of think all shotguns are a little awkward and uncomfortable for me. so i think i sort of agree... but don't think Mossberg is worse than the rest.

give it a whirl and see what you think, but shooting an AR without a stock is going to be much less fun than it sounds.

i have a couple of stockless, tubeless "pistols" in this vein and while they can be steadied with a sling and shot, or shot two-handed if you've got the size/strength to feel comfortable doing so... they're always a little weird to shoot (though i will still clear the house with my P556 because i promote ridiculousness).

i don't find them particularly comfortable or fun to shoot. don't shoot them better than any other pistol, so why not shoot a different pistol, right? had a couple of them jam on me.

and you are right about the fanboys. but, to be fair, that goes for a lot of brands/models.

blakfyahking;9474533 said:

oh, they're functional. and i've actually talked people into buying them or recommended them for what they are. i know a few people in MD who were trying to grab a pistol pre-10.2013 who ended up with a Glock 19 or a CZ 75 or some sort.

ironically i do have night sights on my Glock because the relative i inherited it from was OBSESSED with that upgrade. so it goes.

i think you're thinking of Browning (which FNH owns); however, i do really like the 92 series. but then i shot them a ton when i was a little kid and i have always had them as range toys, not working guns, so you know, i can see the bias.

it wasn't the Beretta pistol's fault, but it was our training at the time and it being my 1st time using a pistol in combat left me with a real negative complex about Beretta........the pistols are actually good tho

well... among others, i have a VP70Z. "bad" might not be the word. but you look up some videos of guys running that and you'll see what i mean.

blakfyahking;9474533 said:

not as high-level as a "nicer" pistol, but some of what's not there is the finer touches. but they run and the 75 family is a wonder-nine family with a serious pedigree.

blakfyahking;9474533 said:

weirdly, i think most of my S&Ws are old revolvers

yes, SIG makes (or made) nice guns. i don't have one i don't like. would likely have done a 320 if i hadn't done a VP9.

What sights do y'all prefer on your pistols, iron or reflex?
going to have to say iron because i don't have anything else on a pistol. well, okay, TECHNICALLY there's a red dot on the P556, but i think we all know why that doesn't count.

don't really spend on optics, though.

also... another stamp finally came through after only 8 months this time. go go incredibly slow form 4s!

(secretly i have some other stamps back as well that i just haven't built yet).

hello one of two ways you can still get an AK in this state:
