sad that this is true, right?blakfyahking;9255332 said:5.5 months is great
honestly, it depends on how you like to shoot. it's worth it to me to have them to play with and do shorter-range shooting with. but i am kind of doing it to do it. i am actually more excited for the suppressors, TBH.blakfyahking;9255332 said:meanwhile I'm still building a couple of rifles and wondering is it even worth the hassle of going through the whole process just to have a SBR........at least with the suppressors it would be worth it IMO
honestly, it's all about your local laws for the permit and i personally wouldn't guess about GA's laws on this score. but i come from a state where the carry laws are NOT generous.King Erauno;9268376 said:aye so i got in trouble a couple months back. DUI but had my gun on me.. in a state that doesnt honor my georgia gun permit. can they take it away? ( after court n shit) they said i might have to forfeit my permit but i havent heard anything concrete. anybody shed some light on this?
modern 9mm kinda sorta negates the need for .40. honestly, the major advantage of the latter seems to be "easier to find it during rushes on ammo."Will Munny;9267298 said:No gun news for me lately other than I sold my Shield 40 for $325, could have maybe gotten more but I sold it to a buddy. I just didn't like how snappy the 40 was and I feel like for a carry pistol a 9mm should do the job.
if it makes you feel better, i have Magpul MBUS Pros on my AUG and that SBR are there has KAC flip sights and i legitimately feel like a crazy person for paying for THOSE. but... they're really nice. and:Will Munny;9267298 said:and I put Magpul MBUS sights on my AR, I got the cheapest ones and those fuckers are not cheap.
yeah, i like to have iron sights on my rifles, so i hear that. Will Munny;9267298 said:For some reason tho putting back up sights on my AR reduces my anxiety, like I feel like its a complete rifle at this point, until I go on the surefire website and start looking at lights.
disclaimer: my default home-defense gun is a pistol. if i wanted to pick up a rifle, though, i would use an AR (or maybe a SIG P556, which is kind of my current "i need the most dramatic firearm at hand right now" gun), so if i was going to answer this question with ammo i currently have? Federal JSP Tactical (LE223T1). it's a really good round BUT it's also the ammo that i have that i got an exceptional price on.Will Munny;9275537 said:What do you think the best home defense loads are for a .223? I keep one mag handy filled with some cheap varmint tipped 50 gr bullets. Probably not the best but I would imagine that would be far less likely to over penetrate than a FMJ. Not that my AR would be the first thing I'd grab in the event of a break in anyways.

cops did take my gun but i got it back.

these are all good points but the main one is "since I'm so familiar with using it"blakfyahking;9280716 said:anyways the AR is my preferred HD weapon just because when considering all factors the AR provides me the most advantages since I'm so familiar with using it......besides the average home invader generally isn't prepared to deal with a homeowner who is effectively using a rifle with a 40 rd magazine
my other concern is "police taking a gun i really like away for years and possibly 'accidentally' destroying it."Will Munny;9280809 said:My fear is with using an AR is when the law looks at it, and sees you have this weapon so designed to kill, and then you end up killing with it... I feel like they are gonna be looking reaaaaaally hard if you were in the right or not.
depends on the jurisdiction, i imagine; out here i believe it's possible to get them back but i wouldn't count on itWill Munny;9283670 said:I had a stolen firearm nearly get destroyed by the police but by some stroke of luck they decided to run the serial number... Will Munny;9280809 said:That's true. If you know how to use an AR even just a little you can generally count on being much better armed than a home invader. My fear is with using an AR is when the law looks at it, and sees you have this weapon so designed to kill, and then you end up killing with it... I feel like they are gonna be looking reaaaaaally hard if you were in the right or not. That's a whole nother topic.
But yeah I have the American Eagle tipped varmint rounds. I also have a grip of Fiocchis with the Hornady Vmax bullets.
at this point, the person is not using logic and it's really just about "how evil does the gun look" and "can we make an example of this guy"blakfyahking;9301873 said:but of course to gun control minded folks obviously it would be considered to be more wrong for me to use such an evil weapon, even tho it shoots a smaller bullet and may leave a possibly more humane wound SMH

but the bolded would apply to any firearm wouldn't it? haha
I see what u are getting at tho...........but I figure if Joe Biden can publicly cosign using a shotgun for HD, then u could have a hard time explaining how a 12 gauge round can be less messy than using a basically .22 caliber bullet in court
a slug could really fuck a human body up, and buckshot is even worse and could ricochet........I would think looking at the terminal effects of a .223 would look wayyy better in pictures vs. if I killed an intruder with a shotgun
but of course to gun control minded folks obviously it would be considered to be more wrong for me to use such an evil weapon, even tho it shoots a smaller bullet and may leave a possibly more humane wound SMH
not just that, but you're telling me that intent no longer matters because my gun looks wicked? FOHWill Munny;9308936 said:yah its stupid because obviously every gun is designed to kill.
