Fox Already Planning Deadpool 3 With X-Force Included

Earlier today it came to light that FOX is considering hitting the reset button on it's X-Men franchise, and while the news hasn't been rosy recently for the X-Men, there is still the bright spot of Deadpool.

Deadpool kicked off a potential franchise for the studio, which was fantastic timing since the last core entry, X-Men: Apocalypse, didn't meet the high bar set by X-Men: Days of Future Past. When Deadpool took a relatively small budget of $58 million and roped in over $782 million worldwide.

It's easy to understand then why FOX greenlit a sequel so quickly, and for awhile there it was all sunshine and rainbows, until it wasn't. Recently director Tim Miller walked off the project citing creative differences with star Ryan Reynolds. That massive shakeup hasn't dimmed the studio's hopes for the project, however, and they've attempted to fill the spot quickly. They are in current negotiations with David Leitch (John Wick) to fill the director's chair, but even more surprising is that according to THR sources, FOX has already started work on Deadpool 3. Those sources say that FOX has a great deal of faith in Reynolds and Deadpool, and will start their director search for it soon. The film is rumored to involve another popular group in the X-Men mythos, X-Force.

As to why all the shakeup on Deadpool, reports say Miller wanted to maintain the balance of raunchy comedy and narrative from the first film but also wanted to significantly increase the budget to rival other films in the genre. Reynolds was more interested in keeping the same guerilla feel from the first film in regards to budget and wanted more comedy elements inserted in the script. The two could not find a common platform, and finally parted ways.

FOX can plan all it wants, but if Deadpool 2 can't keep the ship afloat, then it does them no good to plan for a third entry in the series. Hopefully, the team can find a director and get on the same page quickly, as fans don't want to see this franchise go away prematurely.

Deadpool 2 is currently slated to land in theaters on March 2, 2018.

FOX Rumored To Hit Reset Button On X-Men Movies

The hopes for X-Men: Apocalypse were quite high, but unfortunately for FOX, audiences just weren't as engaged with the newest X-Men entry as they were with the previous one, Days of Future Past. That, combined with other delayed and concluding projects have led some to believe a rebirth is in order.

That feeling is starting to spread behind closed doors, and in one case has already been ordered. Apocalypse director Bryan Singer will not return for the next core entry in the X-Men franchise according to THR sources, and producer and writer Simon Kinberg is already working a new script that will reconfigure the series.

It also bears noting that franchise stars, Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence, James McAvoy, and Nicholas Hoult have reached the end of their three picture contracts, though sources say that Kinberg's script is keeping them in mind. If the studio does want to build from the ground up, it might be time to build a completely new cast, as if they use the pieces of the old franchise they will just paint themselves into another hole timeline wise.

Many had hoped that FOX would reach an agreement with Marvel Studios similar to Sony's deal, which allows the characters to crossover into the cinematic universe and gives Marvel some degree of control over the character again in his solo features. If FOX is rebooting the franchise, that will likely not happen anytime soon.

FOX has had an uphill battle with the franchise in recent months, with the oft-delayed Gambit solo film starring Channing Tatum delayed yet again after losing its director Doug Liman. The immensely anticipated Deadpool 2 sequel has also gotten off to a rough start thanks to Tim Miller and Ryan Reynolds butting heads on creative differences, leading Miller to exit the project completely. The lone bright spot has been James Mangold's Logan, which premiered its first trailer to incredibly positive response. Unfortunately, FOX can't build on that going forward, as this will be Hugh Jackman's last time in the role.

Just watched Age of Apocalypse.. it just wasn't good. It started with potential, but ain't live up.

Apocalypse supposed to be a godly figure, but sound like Beanie Siegel after he lost a lung. Nightcrawler shouldn't have been a goth kid, Mystique ain't a hero or somebody the kids should look up to. Wolverine cameo was terrible fighting, stiff wire work, and just pointless. Caliban seemed weak, when he supposed to be trill with his powers. And then how do u do Apocalypse without Cable or Bishop? It was just bad

Amen, thankfully Singer wont be involved in the future films.

I think Fox and Marvel have struck up a deal and will use Scarlet Witch or Phoenix to bring Xmen to the Marvel universe in one of the future marvel movies.

Kingberg is still there though alll previous ties need to be cut and bring in someone who.actually trusts the comic sources.

I don't want the X-Men in the MCU. They work perfectly fine enough independently. The movies just need a creative shot in the arm. This regime been at it for 16 years. They are creatively washed up with the material. They literally don't know what else to do at this point. It's very telling.

Either reboot the shit or don't.

I say don't. they already rebooted and dropped the ball on the 3rd movie. can't we petition fox to give x-men back to marvel already? betteryet we should petition fox to leave superhero movies alone period.

dropped the ball on the 3rd movie, yes. but rebooted? nah, they tried to fix some continuity errors but that's it.

one of the x-men universe's weaknesses at fox has been the lack of attention to detail and planning. look at the constant recasting and such of smaller characters in just the first 3 films alone.

Henry Simmons, (from Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.,) should have gotten a shot at playing Apocalypse. He's has the build, height, (dude is 6'4") if you listen to his voice, he has the voice Apocalypse would have, (with some added voice modulation,) and Simmons already favors Apocalypse, with would be needed is some things are some things that you would do with CGI. Wait, I forgot. Hollywood, in not wanting to shake to the core that cacs know about life and the world can't portray ancient Egyptians as black people considering the fact that's where ancient Greeks and Romans got their knowledge from and the influence ancient Egypt had on the Greco-Roman world, even if this depiction is fictional.

That Apocalypse get up would look weak on anyone.

I wanted it to be so much better than it was. Oscar Isaac is an amazing actor but he was wasted in this and it was a miscast for Apocalypse flat out.
