technically (flow, rhyme scheme, lyricism, etc) he is probably the greatest mc, but his catalog isn't even top 10 to me and doesn't have much replay value. I don't feel he has a true classic along the lines of Illmatic, Reasonable Doubt,Ready to Die,etc. Overall he is in that 10-15 range!

cosign. in terms of pure skill, he is among the greatest, but his albums don't add up to a catalog that can compete with the greatest.

You really think so?

He's wasted potential IMO. If he didn't have such a lame/corny sense of humor and if he were less inclined to say some outlandish sh!t just for the shock value, he could have been much better. He's like a novelty, extremely great with multi's and rhyme schemes, but the content takes a major hit in many cases (not all, but as I said, more often than not).

A skilled rapper who's legacy will be cheapened by his stans over rating him.

This pertains to almost every rapper..especially tupac. Pac has no classic albums if em doesnt...albums with great songs but dont obtain "classic status" because of 2 or 3 fillers.

Barry sanders never got a superbowl ring but it didnt take away from the people admired his skills.

You haven't said much of anything...are you Dretox? I don't know why but I should have expected the stans to march in this thread in numbers. Yes, MMLP is a classic because rolling stone called it one. LOL. "you're delusional...you're delusional."

Hypocrisy at it's finest. Other than your "the hip hop circle said it's not a classic" argument (for lack of a better word), you haven't said a thing in this thread.

What's funny is I think even Eminem would agree with you on that. But to say he's not even top 10 I dunno man. His subject matter might not be for "US" .. but you can't deny him .. he in my Top 10.

Considering so many battle rappers try to make it into the commercial lane and they all fail. Em Came a long way man. .. beat ALOT of odds.. of course it didn't hurt being white lol

'The Slim Shady LP was the greatest, The Marshall Mathers LP was a classic, The Eminem Show was fantastic'

From The Be Careful What You Wish For Song

That's 3 critically acclaimed Album's outta 5

Wether some on the IC agree on not most people will say those 3 Album's are certified classics and that's what counts the majority opinion as well as impact

See my blood boils with rage cos Eminem makes emotional Song's from Mockingbird to Sing For The Moment to Cleaning Out My Closet to Beautiful to Lose Yourself to Hailie's Song

So when you talk about Eminem it;s about him making Song's that are deep with emotion

Beat a lot of odds? Em's material from day one has been the epitome of mainstream accessible...because 1) he makes pop music; and 2) he's white, which gives him that extra umph to sell in a genre dominated primarily by white consumers.

A rapper with decent skill who had his moments, but was overrated. Made some songs that aged poorly due to rapping about celebrities who have since fallen off. Some cheesy and immature lyrical content. Made some songs with "shock violence" to entice the teenage suburban male listener.

Man I can't believe Em is like a grown up type figure in the game now. I remember when he was just rippin shit up.

Great Lyrics, catchy Hook's, most personal content, most emotional records and dope Production

From the dark and touching Song's like Cleaning Out My Closet & Say Goodbye To Hollywood to the heart felt, emotional and soul driven Song's like Hailie's Song & Till I Collapse to the up beat bangers like With Out Me & Business to the political Song's like White America & Square Dance to the street anthems like Soldier & Superman to the inspiring Song's like Sing For The Moment & When The Music Stop's to the Story Telling Song's like Drip's & My Dad's Gone Crazy

Great Beat's like Till I Collapse, Superman, Business, White America, Sing For The Moment, Say Goodbye To Hollywood and so on

Everything from Lyricism, personal content, Melody/Harmony & conscious Song's were on this Album

I've always felt this way. It's OK if others disagree though. Most people like MMLP better, and some like SSLP better. Granted, MMLP has individual songs on it that are better than anything on Eminem Show, but Eminem Show is the overall better album.

I like Eminem Show because most of the tracks are about something and they have a purpose. The tracks manage to be deep while entertaining at the same time. Eminem should have named this one the "Marshall Mathers LP" because this one was his most personal.

TES was Em's prime sonically IMO. It's the only album of his that I won't skip any tracks on and I can listen to it today as if I were still in middle school lol. I don't get that dated feeling with TES like I do with SSLP. MMLP probably features Eminem's top 2 songs ever (The way I am, Stan) so I can understand someone picking that album off the strength of that

I find it funny how you dislike Eminem, but seem to appear in every topic that covers him.

And I do expect a "who are you/hop off my dick" (pause) type of response from you. Prove me wrong.
