Anyways. Since we all seem to agree that Em's legacy will be hurt by the fact that he has no classic material, how do you all think this will affect his reception when history has the chance to rewrite itself? Since his numbers are pretty much unparalleled, will this be enough to overshadow this simple fact? I mean even now, no one really talks about Em's lauded material because there isn't any. He's just synonymous with numbers, and that's what gives him that extra umph over his peers. But will being the best selling rapper be enough to hide the fact that he has no classics, but yet, is considered "elite"?

Eminem's legacy will be that he was one of the best lyricists ever and that he sold a bunch of records. Whether you think he has a classic record doesn't matter because I'm sure he'd rather have those two distinctions instead. Plus, he's respected by other rappers and by others inside the industry.
Putting out a classic doesn't mean much anyway. Rappers such as Slick Rick, Scarface, Rakim, KRS-One, A Tribe Called Quest and Brand Nubian have put out classics but none of them will be as highly regarded as Eminem in the hip hop history books. If you can spit though, people will remember that. Same if you make music that people can be entertained by or they can feel.
