Rolling Stone?, why do people get uptight about what they have to say. They are not Hip Hop and they mostly give credit to White Artist anyway, (LOL @ MJ Thriller being #20 on there all time greatest list, SMH). Em is the king based off Youtube and Twitter now? SMH. Forbes already told us who are the Kings of Hip Hop, Jay, Diddy and Ye. Why? cause they are generating the most cash and they are hip hop based period. Eminem sells all the records but has never made more dough than Jay. Eminem being crowned King of Hip Hop by a White Magazine should not be shock to anyone.

At the end of the day, you line up 10 Black People and ask them if Eminem is the King of Hip Hop and 80-90% will say Hell No without even thinking twice. You ask 10 Whites and 80-90% of them will say Hell Yes. He's White American's guy. I mean why the last 3 years? and not the last 5? Let me guess cause Eminem was M.I.A. and the only way you could make sure he was #1 is to focus on the last 3 years when he had his comeback?, pathetic. This is why magazines and suits don't run the streets. The Streets will forever be the end all, be all in judging Hip Hop cause that's where rap comes from. Em is a successful no doubt and he will be considered one of the Greats when it's all said an done mostly cause of his success but KING OF HIP HOP? . SMH, Tupac and Biggie still in 2011 > EMINEM and it's not even debatable.

I co-sign the article 100%.

Based on the criteria that they based this on I don't see how anybody could argue against this.

The data supports the fact that Emenim is the most popular rapper on the planet and therefore by their definition"King of HipHop".

Rolling stone mag and mtv do not represent hip-hop culture

Factual thread title.

That's what im talking about how can they tell me who is the greatest emcee and The King of Hip-hop, who give you the authority. You dont see The Source or Bet say LIVING COLUR is the Greatest Hard Rock band, white people would loose their mind and voice their opinions. But when it comes to us, there are some niggas like so what it dont count even though it reaches millions of people and influence the minds of the youth.

I remember there was an article in XXL when they kept it black and they said there is going to be the time when the media and is going to proclaim to us that marshall mathers is the greatest emcee of all times

I never understood how white people form blues bands its always been an awkward thing because the blues speaks of the problems that ache the black soul that was forced onto the black man by the white man.

As long as we continue to sell our culture for penny's on the dollar they will treat it as such.We let an Elvis slip by in Rap once already by the name kid rock. Then we get so chicken shit afraid of Em because he is white and raps good that we are afraid to challenge him due to the fact ever rapper was on a white owned label .As a whole we gotta start putting our voices out there telling them who really runs this shit.Black folks cosign and create the next big star and we should sign and manage and tell who the fuck is popular and have standards for who represents us.

That's what the fuck im talking about^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^THE TRUTH. There's going to be front line niggas and sideline niggas, There was niggas telling Muhammad Ali to shut up, Howlin Wolf to dont think about your royalties and dont read that contract, Told MLK to stop startin shit.

Jay>>>>em. When eminem can be looked at in high regards within Rollings Stones white community and black communities, equally, then talk about him being some imaginary king.

Exactly, Jay gets play in the burbs and the Hood. Em doesn't get the hood spins like that. I'm not saying blacks don't like Em cause obviously he does have fanbase amongst the black community but it's so limited, if I could put a percentage on it I would say: 85% white/15% Black. Where as Jay is something like 65% black/35% white.

Aw, hell. I was waiting for one of your rants, bruh.

You can't rant against stats from Billboard, RIAA, or Twitter followers....

If you want a rant then tell me Emenim is the greatest based on his catalog and overall music not his appeal or popularity.

You are right it's not debatable. That's because it's your opinion. Quit acting like you are spitting facts.
There are black people that put Eminem at number 1. I'm one of them

Oh and Last 5 years still support Eminem by the way. Your twitter followers and media views don't change

He not the King. He might be the most popular cause he's good AND he's white. but you cant take the white factor out with em far as his fans. not far as his talent, but the amount of extra fans being white gets him as a novelty in the rap game.

No way the rap version of Elvis is #1. Good lyricist, but dude has a very average catalogue of albums IMO.

I've honestly never met anyone I consider a hip hop head who has Em in his top 5. Em is a legend for sure, but apart from one or two albums, his catalogue has ZERO replay value.

On the reason we have a bunch of articulate and intelligent opinions on hip hop, life politics etc.We really have no excuse for us not to make a music site (Im fully aware we are on one) or some type of online mag.I see folks on here who are good at photoshop we could come together and start a magazine in a heartbeat. It isn't that hard folks we just gotta commit to it.I've seen folks write full blown articles in their threads with citated sources and pictures.Look at that site kickstarter I see white folks come up with fucking bee documentaries in their backyards.Mundane shit getting 20k for filming and for designing. If yall want to take back yall culture yall gonna have to use some dollars. Before I get the typical oh yall niggas lazy and inconsistent some of yall biased" I gotta say read the fucking newspaper in your city when it comes to music reviews and reviews on anything worthwhile all of them are biased or favor a certain style. The reason can easily do some real work if yall dedicated. We on here damn near everyday .
