Exactly, Jay gets play in the burbs and the Hood. Em doesn't get the hood spins like that. I'm not saying blacks don't like Em cause obviously he does have fanbase amongst the black community but it's so limited, if I could put a percentage on it I would say: 85% white/15% Black. Where as Jay is something like 65% black/35% white.

Truth. Its a funny thing when you deal with a rapper like Jay. He can dress weird, talk weird, but the hood still love dude. I remember going around my old block around the time of the Yankee Stadium show and I couldn't find one person not going. From my dude that attends Columbia to the certified goons. They all had one thing in common; not giving a damn about seeing eminem and wishing it was a Jay solo show. My people out in Camden already getting tickets for his show in East Rutherford.

Considering this list is about strictly numbers, it's pretty objective and undeniable. It's not "greatest of all time" as some of you seem to think it is.

People dont read and are locked and loaded to hate on Em any chance they get.

Even if Eminem HADN'T won, the fact that Wayne and Drake are in the top 3 and Nas is nowhere to be seen would have made this list irrelevant

Co-sign. Like someone else said, its undeniable that Em is great but the white hype alone makes it hard to crown the man as the. King. Rapper ego aside, I don't even see Em saying this. I think he knows he's watered his music down too much for that to be the case.

He's not, bruh. Recovery was ass, his skills had diminish tremendously. I co-sign your post; it goes off image and popularity. Dude barely had a single out with Relapse and did well.

Some posters became overly emotional because they didn't actually read the article.

I read the actual article and based on the criteria and data it's safe to say that Emenim is the hottest rapper in the world over the last two years...and by their definition the "King".

However their were a few things I had issues with about the article:

The album review rankings had artists that got rankings based on only 1 album compared to artists who have 5 or more so you have Waka Flocka ranked higher than JayZ.

The touring rankings are skewed because it's impossible to tally the tour money that Gucci Mane accumulates in seedy clubs all over the dirty south.

Poor Rolling Stone should have used a disclaimer for the dyslexic that reads:

"Hottest rapper over the last two years based on album-reviews, touring, social-networking, Billboard-positions, HipHop/R&B charts, Awards, record sales, and YouTube views".........

On the reason we have a bunch of articulate and intelligent opinions on hip hop, life politics etc.We really have no excuse for us not to make a music site (Im fully aware we are on one) or some type of online mag.I see folks on here who are good at photoshop we could come together and start a magazine in a heartbeat. It isn't that hard folks we just gotta commit to it.I've seen folks write full blown articles in their threads with citated sources and pictures.Look at that site kickstarter I see white folks come up with fucking bee documentaries in their backyards.Mundane shit getting 20k for filming and for designing. If yall want to take back yall culture yall gonna have to use some dollars. Before I get the typical oh yall niggas lazy and inconsistent some of yall biased" I gotta say read the fucking newspaper in your city when it comes to music reviews and reviews on anything worthwhile all of them are biased or favor a certain style. The reason can easily do some real work if yall dedicated. We on here damn near everyday .

im down we should really discuss this...............................

See that's how niggas got conquered in the first place because of shit like this.. That's how Blues got raped by the British and that's how Jazz damn near fell off because the white's was amazed about the science and told everybody that music is complicated and have people stop being interested then came in and took it and act like that are the one's that perserving the art form and black didnt understand the beauty, because niggas didnt say shit. The Same shit with Elvis Presely so you cant tell me to ignore this shit.

Ice-Cube didnt ignore this shit in 91 with Turn of the Radio and Burn Hollywood Burn didnt Cube said this "PRETTY SOON HIP-HOP WONT BE SO NICE, NO ICE CUBE JUS VANILLA ICE, AND YALL SIT AND SCREAM AND CUSS, BUT THERE IS NO ONE TO BLAME BUT US" AND DIDNT CUBE SAID "I WONT LET YOU BURY RAP LIKE YOU BURIED JAZZ'

Man come on these outlets reach millions and millions of people and giving hip-hop a white face. They always claimed to be the saviour, this aint no fake ass shit this is the same thing they used for hundered and thousands of years.

Of course there is people in the know about Stevie ect. But these people is reaching the young minds and whiteing hip-hop

When Rollingstone, MTV, Vibe etc. make lists like this, they only have as much power as the readers and listeners give them. At the end of the day, it's an opinion. Some will agree, some will disagree, but it's still an opinion. It's not gospel. There will be more articles and lists like this, but it doesn't mean that it has to be accepted as fact. As long as they have the power to print magaznes, they have an outlet for their opinion. Yes, they have influence, but lists as they pertain to art only go so far. Take this message board for example, we all have differing opinions of who's the best despite various media outlets that say such and such is the GOAT.

MTV said he's the greatest emcee of all times, but Rolling Stone who have a history of not giving hip-hop it's just do or black music of any genre. Said Marshall is THE KING OF HIP-HOP, you know damn well what they were doing, they know hip-hop is a culture they aint stupid. Just like Newsweek post that crazy picture of Bachmann they know what they doing.

Don't think that's bullshit, tho?

Not at all, stats are stats.

I have heard boxing fans say that Rocky Marciano is the greatest boxer of all-time because he never lost a fight, I could argue that Sugar Ray Robinson is the greatest Because he knocked out 8 Hall of Famers...one stat Vs another.

They call Elvis the "King of Rock" so it's only natural that they call Marshall the "King of HipHop" from time to time, I read the article and it clearly stated that this wasn't about skills, influence, catalog, or music.....just the things I listed.

Let me rephrase the shit. After Vibe was brought out and came with the Greatest emcee list, MTV said he's the hottest emcee, what ever the case they been champion Marshall for years, didnt they co produce 8 mile. The fact is White America is in control of the media and what's get's pushed out there for years, They finally got their Elvis.

And that should tell you something thet could of said he's the most popular emcee, but they said He's THE KING OF HIP-HOP, HIP-HOP IS A CULTURE.. these people aint no fool.

Aint nobody in the media ever claimed Em to be the GOAT, just stop. Being the "hottest" and being the best is not the same thing. They clearly explained why they crowned him "King Of Hip Hop" and none of that criteria was having the best music. U trying to hard son.
