The Timeline of the animated show in Japan was:

Dragon Ball: 86-89

Dragon Ball Z: 89-96

Dragon Ball GT: 97-97

Remember it didn't get to the states till the LATE 90's and that was young Goku. So even though Dragon Ball enjoyed so much popularity in the 2000's, it has been off air in Japan since I was in High School in the late 90's. So this new show is going to be dope cause it's the true sequel to "Dragon Ball Z". Can't wait for "Dragon Ball: Super". But yes it's been 18 years since Dragon Ball was officially last on air in Japan as far as an animated series.

Cell has been funny as fuck this whole series. When he was talking to piccolo at the beginning of 43 when Cell absorbed the whole town had me in tears.

They made popo on some ss4 gogeta status man did can handle any issues lol. He straight ended the whole garlic junior saga in 3 minutes.

I get what you're saying, but it makes perfect sense. In fact, it should really have been expected. This was a brand new form that he rushed to learn, so of course he wasn't accustomed to it. I think you miss the point anyway. The fight with Freiza wasn't there to challenge Goku or Vegeta. I think it's pretty obvious that they were well beyond him even if he had mastered his form. This whole Frieze incident only served to reinforce what Whis was trying to teach them in the beginning.
