nah they rewrote him as a wise ass when that new 52 came around and they revamped the justice league. I have a lot of those Geoff johns green lantern books from 2005 and he was pretty stern.

It's not like he's yuck ingredients it up for cheap laughs. He just has a sense of humor.

he was fool hearty and flirtatious it was like he was the replacement for wally west. hal Jordan was always more stern and I have some old gl comics from the 70's and some of his green arrow team ups.

yeah but this new 52 version is completely out of character...

Nah not really. New 52 picked up where Flashpoint left off with him being a stubborn sometimes reckless but always fearless and competent air force dude. He was based on Captain Kirk after all. The only truly "serious" GL was the Golden Age one (Alan Scott). Even John Stewart had his fair share of irreverent moments especially in his earlier stories.

He still writing any books? or he focusing on the movie stuff?

He is also returning to Aquaman sometime next year to write that rise of the seven seas story he's been projecting since he was last on that book.
