same with the yankees
too many players
not enough positions to play them at
especially with the zobrist signing

best part of the zobrist signing is that he fits maddon managing style perfectly
between 2B (baez), 3B (bryant), lf (schwarber) and rf (soler) and once you factor in rest days, injuries, etc -- he will basically play everyday + you can shift baez to ss to give rest days to russell
baez should be fine especially if the plan to get him reps in cf are real

then decide between soler or baez on who should be traded for pitching/second half reinforcements

I read the cubs still got dough to spend and might go after heyward. If they get heyward this team gonna be a serious problem
this dude who understands the analytics said castro was about as bad as you can get for an everyday player and his defense made them worse and the cubs got a very solid pitcher who can start or strengthen the bullpen.I overestimated castros trade value so I aint trippin like that no more

me too
everything i read this morning pretty much was the same -- castro just wasnt generating that much interest and that the 3 time all star thing was overstated around the league because of how bad the cubs were and how by rule at least one player had to be represented in the all star game
theo and co. dont strike me as people that make moves impulsively so i have to think those 2 clubs shootings in the d.r and that sexual assault allegation impacted this decision just as much as it being a salary dump

this is so true though
he always did seem to catch a lot of flack (some of it earned) but he took his demotion in stride and when he got another chance at 2b he was great
i really think this is a trade where it can work out for both teams because even though warren really had no defined role with the yankees he was at times on the low the best starter and best releiver not named miller or betances
"And then going forward, long-term, this will give more opportunity for Javier Baez as well with Zobrist’s flexibility and ability to play all over the field," President Theo Epstein said Tuesday night."We value those guys tremendously," Epstein said. "There’s tremendous value holding onto the Baezs and Solers of the world and letting their talent manifest over a full major league season. They’re guys who have the opportunity to play a major league season over six months.
"We’re invested in both guys. We’re listening. If the right deal were to come along, we’d pay a little closer attention. But certainly both guys are important parts of our future, and we look forward to them continuing to establish themselves."
