i for one am glad the white sox didnt pay heyward all that money because he would just forget how to play baseball like every other position player the white sox get

pirates: no
white sox: i'll pay you
pirates: ha. but no
seems like every other big acquisition the last five or six years has fallen flat and in many cases been unbelievably awful
swisher
keppinger
rios (half the time)
dunn
teahen
kotsay
hudson
fukodome
lindstromk
youk
samardzija
cabrera
laroche
liriano
linebrink
all had halfway decent to excellent track records that went sour the instant they joined the white sox, sometimes disastrously so -- i know theres going to be misses and often times veteran signings carry a bit more risk but they dont seem to regress when they get here so much as fall off a goddamn cliff -- even guys that turned out briefly well tended to completely go off the deep end after a season (pierre, visquel)
david robertson has turned out pretty well (his era was over 7 the last two months though) but hitting on free agent relievers doesnt make a 70 something win team a contender
the narrative seems the same year after year and you cant chalk it up to bad luck anymore
wtf is going with this organization that keeps turning perfectly good ballplayers into some of the worst in the game -- if it were injuries i could understand but theres just no explanation for why this keeps happening
why do good players keep turning into minor leaguers around here
