I Did Read but all u said was "Come in and admit ur bias's"..... U didnt try to bring an understanding to different sides u were just riding coat tails and giving negative feedback.... If u really want this thread to be about "Understanding" why dont u shed some light in the situation.... So this goes back to the point ppl like YOU give us (both sides) a place to talk shit....

Damn you're thickheaded. The purpose of this thread is to bring about understanding and mutual respect between different regions. Only person in here talking shit is you.

@musicology, you are a lunatic and I demand you to stop embarrassing the Midwest. Stop shucking and jiving for New York.

Bullshit man. Lupe has explicitly stated that he is one of Jay Z boys, and Kanye is too. So by default that includes Common, Cudi and Big Sean. Also, how is it shucking and jiving when Hov is black?

The dudes who really know what's going on in the rap game (Kanye, Em, Nelly) and are critically acclaimed in the Hip Hop culture (Kanye, Common, Black Milk, Elzhi, Royce etc.) are all good with NYC. You tryna find a beef that ain't there. Let the south fight that battle.

No diss to the south, but it's all just an argument. That's all it's ever been and was. I repeat, the only child that ever brought it to pops (NYC & the North East) on some real shit was the West.

Oh I got some more shit for you soul rattler

When Bone severed ties with Compton's Ruthless Records? Who did they sign with? Full Surface. Owned by Yonkers own Swizz Beatz. Midwest ain't got no beef with nobody man in this rap shit man.

Musicology, please stop. Nobody's buying into your "father and son" argument. Not even New Yorkers.

It don't matter if posters like you disagree. Kanye, Common, Lupe, Eminem, Cudi & Big Sean AGREE. If they didn't, it would have been a problem with NYC in public by now. Only Midwest dudes crying are online.

The south has always argued back and forth with NYC and that's cool. But Soul Rattler is misrepresenting us by advocating a southern position against the foundation. We don't and have never done that.

Have you had conversations with all them niggas, b? I never said I don't respect NY, but you're on here acting like New York and all it's inhabitants are holy and you're their humble servant. Get off ya knees.

i think its because ya'll had ya'll own music lane before stepping in to the rap shit (the house shit). ya'll entered like a outsider learning, not a stepchild. ya'll could accept ny being the foundation easier because they ain't shit on ya'll too bad. the south caught hell, trust me

Bullshit for the fourth time. In the Midwest we don't cry, we play our position and wait for our time; which is now. When Detroit's Lion Big Meech faced down Brooklyn's Wolf Anthony Jones? Guess who died? Afterwards we slid right in under the Emperor Diddy in a smooth position. Now it's time for us to do it at the forefront while putting on all coasts because they all helped us.

No, we always kept it true to Hip Hop Culture and we've always been cool, except for STL, but Nelly been good with Diddy anyway. All disputes were handled on some real shit with the west and the east. We don't take shit from nobody. We just focus on music. Now we have real leadership (Em and Kanye) and have had so since 1999. We never been complainers.

You must've met a bitch from Brooklyn with some fye pussy, didn't you? Hip Hop culture is about Hip Hop, not New York.

Ha.

Good point. Thats why I dont see how one region can so strongly dislike another region. At this point in Hip Hop everybody has borrowed from everybody. It might have started in NY (a lifetime ago) but now its 2011 and its everywhere. The fact that NY is the birthplace has nothing to do with the current state of Hip Hop.

Back to the topic of the thread tho...

Northerners (especially Black people) have always thought of Southerners as slower, more country, and dumber. Only thing new about this conversation is the South has more power and influence now. In fact, the rise of Southern music has more to do with young people (the culture) moving to the South. While East Coast cities are dieing Southern cities are rising.

My suggestion is that we all learn to respect each other's strengths cuz I dont think this dynamic is going to change anytime soon.

excellent post. as a nigga who seen it go from all ny to ny/philly/jersey to the west back to the east now to the south, everybody brings something good to the table. i used to be east coast bias and think thats stupid now. always will love old school rap but its just one chamber. what would rap be without cube? devin? do or die? ganksta nip? hell unlv and young bleed? expanding the ear beyond your comfort zone just makes sense.

Our MC's date back to Flint, Michigan's MC Breed. Twista and Common were next up, then Bone as far as nationwide exposure.
