Updated: Seth confirms undocumented changes to SSF4 AE v2012

Updated: Seth confirms undocumented changes to SSF4 AE v2012 Updated: Seth Killian confirmed on Twitter that there indeed are undocumented changes to v2012 of Super Street Fighter 4 Arcade Edition. He also discussed the matter with other community members. Here's a run down.

Hit the jump for more details.

Seth Killian: Yes, there are still things to discover and learn in AE 2012, a brand new game. Happy to hear to why some feel that's a bad thing.

Frame & move properties = rules in strategy game. Strategic play needs knowledge of rules but gotta waste time finding them first. — UltraDavid

Seth Killian: Changelogs are a new direction and more info = better but my question was not rhetorical -- I did want to hear people's thoughts.

Probably too big for Twitter but also I think reasonable people can disagree about the role of discovery vs. creator tells all.

I know some people love not knowing, but those can just not look at the log. To the rest of us digging through everything is just an unnecessary waste of time that could be used developing new tech / honing your skills. — ProxyDamage

Seth Killian: What if a closer understanding of the system that you figured out yourself is part of the skill? Historically it has been.

For what it's worth, I am genuinely curious to hear people's thoughts on this. It's close to my heart and I've been a big advocate of more transparency.

Discovery is nice but we are now in the 4th iteration of the game, we want real change logs now. — Mike3640

Seth Killian: This seems like a stronger point to me than general claim that all info must be given vs. learned.

Great topic, lots of good points on all sides. For the record, Capcom's position is not necessarily my own, nor vice versa. Thanks to all for thoughts.
Earlier: There may be unreported buffs and nerfs in version 2012 of Super Street Fighter 4 Arcade Edition, according to eLive Pro's Kim1234. A well respect player in the community, he recently tweeted these thoughts after playing the latest release of the game.

There are hidden buffs and nerfs in SSF4 AE v2012. Bison's EX Psycho Crusher often whiffs from full screen ish distance. Headstomp trades a lot in the air.

Uryo's thoughts on Super Street Fighter 4 Arcade Edition v2012

1204_uryo.jpg

Uryo's thoughts on Super Street Fighter 4 Arcade Edition v2012 Uryo posted on his blog about Super Street Fighter 4 Arcade Edition v2012 talking about the information from the change lists and his thoughts on it.

There are not many changes since the announcement of the first change list from a few months ago. At first glance, Akuma, Abel and Seth seem strongest in this version.
On tournaments he adds:

All characters have a bad match up. This will make the team tournament much more interesting. On the other side solo tournaments will be less interesting.

Ryu has been improved which is good. Beginners will naturally turn to it (as iconic character in the series), it is normal that it is not too low. But the character is hard to play, not everyone will master the distance to throw fireballs like Momochi and Daigo have.

The character has a class act when I see the hands of Daigo Umehara or to Momochi . Strangely when I'm playing it, it looks like nothing at all!

I would like to test Yun and Yang, they may please me with all the changes they have undergone.

Super Street Fighter 4 Arcade Edition 2012 launches tomorrow

As a general reminder to everyone reading the front page today, the patch for version 2012 of SSF4 AE drops tomorrow on PSN and Xbox Live. The PC version of the patch is not coming out the same day but will come out later.

To recap, you can read the official change notes which were transcribed here on EventHubs. These notes include all of the changes, including the fixes that were made in the Alpha and Beta lists along with their subsequent revisions.

It was also confirmed that there are several undocumented changes in 2012, so it's recommended that you do a quick rundown of your main character(s) to ensure that nothing has been changed bizarrely without your notice.

Arcade Edition DLC was put up on the networks in early morning EST last time, but it's unknown if version 2012 will be uploaded at the same time. Feel free to leave your feedback about changes now or about how Capcom is going about delivering this update.

Development team confirms two bugs with AE v2012, fixes coming

Development team confirms two bugs with AE v2012, fixes coming The Japanese Super Street Fighter 4 Arcade Edition development team confirmed two glitches with the v2012 update of the title that was released today.

First off is the Juri warp bug that happens when she performs a close standing medium punch too closely to the opponent and actually passes through them, as shown in this story will be patched out.

Excellent Adventures returns - New year/new game

They're back. Gootecks and Mike Ross have returned with another episode of Excellent Adventures, this time picking up Super Street Fighter 4 Arcade Edition v2012 to start the new year.

Gootecks, apparently inspired after returning from Japan, has been putting in work online with Rose. Mike, on the other hand, hasn't played a lot of 2012 due to a red-ringed Xbox. Watch the episode to see how it all unfolds!
