All of them other eminem's proteges went pretty much nowhere, Stat might have been the most talented producer wise, Bobby Creek aint do shit, Ca$his dropped a few albums that nobody listened to, Obie Trice went from platium to a complete nobody in a few years and he had some dope shit.

I fuck with the beat in this shit:

I'm glad someone in the industry can publicly admit that album is sub-par..

Wack is such a nice word to give that album.

Shit was wack. I love Dre to death but it was wack,” Stat told Trent Clark, Justin Hunte, Jake Rohn and Marcel Williams. “This how this shit work is how music goes, this is how you know your shit [is] good. 2-3 months after it come out.” He continued, “It’s not that it wasn’t put together quality wise, it’s not that it wasn’t quality beats and shit like that, it just didn’t capture the attention of the world."

The bolded explains everything. He needs to be mindful of how he expresses himself. He went from saying "shit was wack" to "it had quality beats but didn't capture the attention of the world".

He should have just made the second statement and kept the "shit was wack" comment to himself.

Lol yea he fucked that all up. Now ppl are gonna run with the "it was wack" part when that's not what he meant and in all reality he's only saying that cause the album didn't go XXXX platinum like all of Dres other projects. There ain't even a damn video for the album.

Lost out on the millions/fame perhaps but stayed true to himself

You make an interesting point.

Personally I think a lot of Eminem's music can be poorly produced at times, or put another way, sometimes his ideas come off as corny.

I wonder what the average IC member would do in a similar situation. I mean you're in the studio with Eminem and he wants you to say a chorus that you think is wack. Would you say it for the sake of making a song with Eminem that will probably generate millions of dollars, or would you decline because you think the idea is weak?

Personally I think I'd do whatever Eminem wants to do ONCE. For one song. Then the next song we do together I'd have to put my foot down.

in this specific situation w/ stat, it wasnt so much that he was in the studio with eminem....he was SIGNED to the man.

he pretty much said no to his boss.

great and insightful interview. Stat keeps it a buck. They even referenced a hiphopdx interview from 2014 where he said that Jimmy Iovine once called the Detox production team "The greatest practice team of all time":

"“I remember Jimmy Iovine said, ‘It’s like the greatest practice team of all time,’” Stat Quo says. “’Imagine a team that just practices and never plays the game. That’s what you guys do in here. All these great songs, nobody’s ever going to hear them.’ It was true. It’s so much music."

ether.

Wouldnt even say its ether but more of a reality check. Its true and i mentioned it in that other thread. Dre is dead wrong for wasting niggas time grinding out songs/ghostwriting whole albums just to never see the light of day.

Nigga need to fully be called out for that fuck shit. Create a streaming service under the dre beats umbrella and open that vault!

everybody involved was paid but still....

thats a LOT of hours, time away from your family and some more shit...

god forbid that Dre dies, but once he does, imagine how his catalog will be treated......and how FAST shit comes out.

those detox sessions would make a LOT of money for a LOT of people.

well if they were getting paid then how is that any different from any other job where you gotta leave home and family to go to work?

The real issue to me is that he has all these classics in the vault that we might never hear in our lifetime

i meant to add the fact that when you spend pouring your creativity into something at the expense of creating something ELSE that may never see the light of day is a lot for any artist.

its different.

1. Who the fuck read all that shit

2. Nobody gives a fuck about stat quo , the nigga is garbage on all levels

3. Who the fuck is stat quo

WASN'T EMINEM OD'ING ON VICODEN AT THIS TIME?
