if you don't pay people a living wage, that extra money is gonna come out of somewhere, mainly your tax dollars. if they don't make a living wage, guess who's gonna supplement that income with things like food stamps, and not having healthcare, who do you think is paying for all those ER visits

This is different.

Entry level work begets entry level pay. It's a low paying job, everyone knows this. Why, exactly the fuck, are you trying to "live" off of a job best suited for teenagers and students that need to put a few bucks in their pockets? It's only been in recent years that you start to see more people well into adulthood working fast food. That shit simply wasn't common when I was coming up EXCEPT during the recession under daddy Bush.

And see, that's just it...

When more adults wind up at McDonalds for work 'cause they were laid off or what have you, they always bitch and moan about how bad the pay is on those fast food jobs. Those jobs were not for them to work at 40/week in the first place. They're not meant to be your full time gig unless you're on a management/ownership track. They're bullshit ass jobs with extremely high turnover and these folks just happen to end up there between "real" jobs.

They complained about this during the recession of the late 80's early 90's. They'll complain every time they're forced to work a bullshit job because they feel as if they should get more because their situation requires more.

But, at the end of the day, it's still a fast food gig. It doesn't need to pay that much.
