Yet local cats here can't get no spins? Then you wonder why Nicki Minaj had to go down south to get a chance to be heard. If fucking NY radio aren't breaking new artists from NY then who the fuck will? ATL play their local artists then they go national and Hot 97 eventually plays the record. So don't they think that if NY radio played NY artists that it wont eventually get national exposure? Ebro needs to be fired.
cash out had the right business minds behind him to make people aware of his music. radio stations only play whats popular. if they didnt play whats popular, hot 97 wouldnt be in business. its not the radio's job to break artist its the artist and his primary investor's job. its no different than in the 90's. you think biggie would have gotten national exposure without diddy creating a platform for him to display his talents?

I call it "The College Draft" because everyone wants to be a rapper, but the ones who are good enough to be under the industries scope are the ones who get to the draft. Like: Joey Badass, Grandemarshalle, ASAP, Sir Micheal Rocks, School Boy Q. I showcase artist in the underground circuit who bring quality music. Although I've been getting respect from people in my city for playing quality and interviewing quality artist. What the DJ said was ABSOLUTELY right. This is a business, the artist I play are "minor league" players, and its funny because I'm one of the one only ones who pushes "minor league" music more then anyone in my country nevermind city.. If you disagreed with what he said, its because you dont understand the music industry. If an artist wants to get exposure on the radio they have to create a HUGE buzz, not just the internet, they have to get the STREETS talking.

Agreed, and much props to you for giving them cats a chance. As far as your other post, it's not like they should get the same slot/plays as Wayne or Rick Ross. And I don't know about other stations, but with Power 105 and Hot 97 in NY, the same 10 songs at most are played, some twice within an hour. And just like someone said, Ghost and Styles have careers already. We all know that mainstream radio caters to one demographic and one sound, and that's the problem. That's why Trinidad James can get a song on the radio after rapping for 10 months, and Raekwon can't get plays despite having a 20 year career. My issue is diversity, not necessarily new cats that think they can get on cuz they cut a mixtape in they mama crib with a FL Studio demo and a Sonar XL program. But the newer generation is getting more diverse than the past few years, and I wish radio would show that.
