Try telling these assclowns to play a Biggie record in 92, or a 50 Cent record in 2000. Yeah yeah, business and advertising and ratings and all that, but they act like the music is any less better if it doesn't have a machine behind it. Leave it up to them back in the early 80s, hip hop wouldn't have existed cuz LL Cool J and Run DMC weren't popular enough.

These artist have to realize if they don't have a machine behind them, they have to build one. That's what russle simmons did back in the 80s with ll and run dmc.

But the radio at least had a bigger hand back then. Street promo is one thing, but at least radio got you a decent buzz. Now it's like they want you to win a VMA before they give you a chance.

Not true. Now you can make it just by using social media and/or having a following on the internet, which hurts the industry and the street niggas extorting these artists. The ability of having a fanbase/building traction without their input/help makes them almost irrelevant, which hurts the system or the way things have been working before now.

I almost rushed this 60 year old guest speaker bitch from Clear Channel that lectured my marketing class talkin bout Wiz Khalifa and Beyonce. I hate Clear Channel with all my soul.

all these dudes r fake... and corny as fuck...

kill yaself if u listening to fm radio in the new millenium... I have access to every type of music minus the faggotty radio "personalities"...

the best talent is sometimes least supported you got to have allies, sometimes you got to become whats popular in order to catch a buzz and be hott even on a regional basis!

Let's talk Houston after Ghetto Boyz & Face years later rappers started to emerge one of the biggest was E.S.G. had a track called "Swangin and Bangin" this was before Dj Screw really took off strong which had some of the hottest underground songz that started it all which included artist like E.S.G and Lil Keke titled "3 N Da Mornin"!

You had other artists that buzzed too but Dj Screw laid a foundation for alot of artists!

Screwed Up Clique=Fat Pat,Big Hawk,Big Pokey,Lil Keke,E.S.G. etc!

Dj Screw created a whole sound of music by choppin it up and slowin it down that gave a plateu for certain artists the style of rap was huge on both sides North & South certain affiliated labels had the money power and connects to get their artists on the radio! Northside had a Dj that was affiliated with the major radio station they were able to capitolize with connects and and get spins helpin their growin buzz in the streets known as Swisha House!

That Dj is Dj Micheal 5000 Wattz all the while the majority of the styles sounded the same still with artists such as Slim Thug and Paul Wall they had the North on lock and music steady gaining popularity!

You had artists with 2 sounds such as Z-Ro Killa Klan and the more popular Screwed Up Clique style so had the best of both worlds with established name backin them.

You aint shit if u aint Screwed up like Trae say!

You got other artists such as K-Rino & S.P.C. that didn't try to use ties with Dj Screw for name affiliation!

You got groups like Street Military that never changed and try to claim affiliation!

You got rappers like Bam staying true to who he started with but if you aint got the big name affiliation or a radio Dj with interests you stay underground with lil regional buzz!

You got all these wack mcs and the game done changed!

These h0ez are so slow they recognize everything but the real!

Yea, people are really just waiting to see if someone on air will admit that terrestrial radio is controlled by conglomerates who have their own agendas that involve money over quality music.

if Joey badass can be on the BET awards doing ciphers I'm sure he earned to atleast get his shit played on the radio once in a while. the kid is obviously beyond mothers basement status. so i don't believe that stripes shit. but doesn't bother me I don't listen to the radio.

And i wonder if they think mic Tyson is Sean prices debut album or something

I think he just got grouped up as the point of the conversation changed.

Ebro's logic is shakey. So you mean to tell me that "Cashin Out" "earned" it's spot on Hot97? On an account of what? Yet local cats here can't get no spins? Then you wonder why Nicki Minaj had to go down south to get a chance to be heard. If fucking NY radio aren't breaking new artists from NY then who the fuck will? ATL play their local artists then they go national and Hot 97 eventually plays the record. So don't they think that if NY radio played NY artists that it wont eventually get national exposure? Ebro needs to be fired.

I don't agree with it but niggas are not using common sense when it comes to radio. Radio, TV & blogs are all about ratings/views. That's how they survive thanx to all the commercials & sponsors. If an artist like Sean Price, who am i a fan of, doesn't track well with people out there (get people talking, record sales, solid-big fanbase already etc) that's gonna gurantee more ratings for the station then why should they play it?

If they played nothing but Immortal Technique music we wouldn't have these radio station at all. Maybe you dumb niggas should stop giving radio/tv/blogs so much attention and relevance by caring so much and clicking/watching/listening to them give more attention to WHAT YOU LIKE and we'll get somewhere.

i wished it worked that way homey but like someone said ... its all about "perks or payola" ... You trying to tell me that a Immortal Technique song cant generate just as much talk and traffic as a Future song ?????? via radio play ????? how much did future SELL !!!!!! lol yeah he earned his spot ... HYPE doesnt always = Success .... In kendrick lamars case it did ;) #THINK ABOUT IT ..... for FUTURE it didnt work ... but for KENDRICK it did ....... just looking @ that tells me an immortal technique has a place on radio if all they are worrying about is ratings and viewers and talk in the streets ....

imo the reason why a guy like immortal wont get play is because hes anti commercial ... you cant have a guys rapping about saving your money and rebeling against the system ... then have a commercial basically telling you the exact opposite ... SPEND YOUR MONEY !!!!!!! DONT WORRY ABOUT THE GOVERNMENT THE LOCAL STRIP JOINT IS OPEN AND TODAY IS $2 TUESDAY !!!!!!!!!!!!!! once again THINK ABOUT IT ....... the rappers you hear on the radio today are PRO COMMERCIAL .... all they talk about is SPENDING $$$$$ !!!!!!! GOING TO THE CLUB/BAR AND GETTING DRUNK !!!!!!! GETTTING HIGH ON MOLLYS !!!!!!!!! SLEEP STATE !!!!!!! ETC...........

i like diggy as an artist ... but did he earn his spot ?? or did he get the play because hes signed with Warner/Atlantic ??????? things that make you go hmmmmmmmmmmmm

I mean what considered getting popping I remember he said the same shit when the South was hot...He was these NY need to get hot...but at the time one of the most played records was Bow Wow Fresh as IM Is... when Immortal Technique was getting interviews on every magazine and media outlet selling decent amount independently... Not on say Tech 9 level but he doing allright..without Hot 97 support

When the DJ was invented, payola was invented not far behind. Over the years I'm sure payola still takes place, but the main reason is the influence of huge radio giants like Clear Channel and their friendships (payola) to radio stations. Cats too scared to tell it like it is, you'll get more respect by just telling the truth.
