It doesnt matter if nobody got hit, if someone calls the cops for domestic violence and even if the argument is completely over and everyone apologized, someone is still going to jail for a day or two.
Unless i physically harm her, or show her that I am about to physically harm her, which i would never do, but IF i did, she should never call the cops. Have the argument. Settle it and move on. No cops should be involved otherwise.
What?
What do they charge them with?
Domestic Violence. Chances are if nothing bad happened, then the state will lessen the charge or drop the case. Someone WILL get brought to the station though. Its always the State that is pressing charges in DV cases up here. Automatically. If alcohol is involved, you're probably fucked.
I guess Im just trying to figure out where the violence comes in if no one was struck.
Domestic violence occurs when you are physically, sexually, or emotionally abused by another person in the household. Doesnt always have to be a physical thing. If someone in the house does not feel safe because of someone else in the household, it is considered Domestic Violence.

At first I thought that law seemed ridiculous, but...... knowing that both people would be locked up and charged regardless.........it actually makes sense because it discourages either person from calling the police.
