RZA spoke harsh truth that many people find hard to accept.

People are a reflection of their enviornment and the South has the highest drop-out rates, the lowest S.A.T scores, and the highest rate of poverty, and their music reflects that.

By him mentioning "fatback" and people who still eat "swine" is something people with Knowledge-of-Self understand...we dont eat pig...(and its not Soul food, its slave-food), it has everything to do with common sense and nothing to do with 5% ideology.

Some people are so ignorant they even thought he said something about the 5% just because he mentioned reading books, street-knowledge, and being able to walk down 125thh and buy "Stolen Legacy", or "The Isis Papers"....

The fact of the matter is, that the number of southern Hip Hop artists aren't and haven't projected this knowledge of self, healthy eating, and political activism in their Music. Goodie Mob more so then outkast seem to have taken the lead but I believe the powers that be stalled that movement because, it would closed the gap between southern and northern views of each other.

I am from NY and Live in the south. I first heard Goodie while living up north and they totally changed my perception of the southern mentality. However, what I discovered was Goodie was pretty much a one off.

To answer your questions. No. The sole real reason for me mentioning moving the conversation out of the scope of Hip Hop is, because, I understand exactly where you are coming from. Once the conversation begins to pry into the lives of individuals it becomes moot. However, keeping this conversation within the scope of Hip Hop we can clearly see that, the south as a whole is and had been behind. I don't say so, out of arrogance or entitlement. In fact I think Hip Hop in the south was headed in that direction but was deralied. I also, think the north was derailed with the likes of Bad Boy coming on the scene. Let's not forget that the RZA said (Paraphrasing) that niggas are taking whack loops, playing dress while making Hip Hop into Rap and Bullshit. So, RZA himself as well other members of Wutang have called out nothern Hip Hop artists for the same Backward thinking.
