Yo I thought my brother H-Rap was from the Bay Area, when did you be New York Supremist? I'm going to be honest, I grew up in the South(Louisiana) as well as some of the most thoughtful and intelligent people you'll ever encounter. I went to college and some of the and dumbest people I've met were from New York and Chicago. Niggas were straight savages who really just came to college to hustle and said fuck a education. Some of them are actually good friends of mine til this day. While growing I gravitated more towards East Coast hip hop because all I did was watch Rap City and YO! MTV Raps, so I was under the impression that NY hip hop was the standard. However, never once did I feel that New Yorkers were any more intelligent that than any of the rappers down here.
There was once a time when NY hip hop was superior to any region due to their, due to their word play and subject matter. But those days are long gone and culture is now spread all over the country. There are lyricist and 5% all over the country due to hip hops influence, from New Orleans to Detroit and even cities with no major presence in hip hop like Seattle. Just because all you here is dumb limited artists on the radio such as Gucci Mane and Soldier Boy on the radio doesn't mean the dominant music we want to hear in the South. It's just that shit that gets promoted by musical execs. Southerner have a eclectic taste in music because here we had to listen to everything growing up, there was no medium for Southern hip-hop. Groups such as Outkast and Goodie been spreading knowledge since 92, but don't really get he credit they deserve. This shit about southerners being slow and uneducated is unfounded, don't believe everything you hear in the media. Rappers are not representatives of the intellectual abilities of the south, they're just dudes trying to eat off rappin just like shitty rappers such as jim jones and maino.
