I feel like the amount of faith people have in God cannot be compared to Samson story from the bible because if you recall Samson was gifted that strength not through faith but through his strength which was one within his hair that was the secret... God chose him and granted him the strength with which he defeated thousands and thousands of phillistines according to the bible if am not mistaken, also that same strength he was able to fight and defeat a lion with his bare hands... Honestly I feel that some people do have faith in God but I don't know anybody that single handedly pointed out by God to have that gift of strength which was given to Samson... Instead as you say people were given the gift of the Holy Spirit but I asure man if a person is ever face to face with either one of those wild animals in a scenario like you posted, man UNLESS IS GODS WILL THAT YOU DONT DIE THAT DAY, you will die against any of those animals. Lol just a thought man I don't know.
