HxH just gets realer and realer.
Thing about HxH is the author is not afraid to kill people off. There is no "I've been seriously injured, but somehow I survived, but bad guys he get injuries that aren't as bad somehow die" (Bleach) and there is no "It was Genjutsu!" also, there is no "I'll just the last of m ypower to suddenly bring everyone back to life." (Naruto)
In HxH, major characters (who are good guys) die all the time, and it's usually brutal.
Most recently a nigga was just decapitated.
Oh, and there was another main character who had his arm cut off, and then was decapitated as well. Then his killer sewed his body back up and turned him into a doll.
Another character was hacked into pieces, turned into a ball of meat, and then eaten.
^ and these were all semi important characters to the story.
