He's actually right about Roots. Alex Haley plagiarized Roots from a book called "the African" written by a white author. Alex haley was a very lazy writer, which is why to some it felt to simplistic. Shit, look at the Autobiography of Malcolm X that was basically a made up story about Malcolm's life. It had so much false information that it could be called a work of fiction. Also he was sued by the original author for it.

You are right about Roots: The Book but you're pretty outta bounds about Autobiography of Malcolm X. The beginning of you being wrong is to even attribute any issues with the book to Alex Haley, its Malcolm X's book, he wrote the book (only book he's ever written). That's what its called the AUTObiography of Malcolm X and not the "Biography of Malcolm X". Now unless you have proof he didn't write the book, that shit you talking is ducktales. People who aren't writers often get writers to help them write their books, X was no different. Everybody reading this post who was a physical copy of the Autobiography of Malcolm X (and every black man should) need only flip a few pages after the cover to see:

The Autobiography of MALCOLM X

With the assistance of Alex Haley

Introduction by M.S. Handler

Epilogue by Alex Haley

Now as far as things being untrue with the text in question, of course it is. People who write books often omit and embellish certain things about their life that they want to either ignore or enlarge. Its quite common in both biographies and autobiographies to have embellishments, omissions, apologetics etc.

.

On the topic of QT shitting on Roots the movie.....he would have to expound upon what he meant but there are things in Roots that do bother me. The fact that Kunta was still chasing after some ass that had long been sold away for starters. Its just too much romanticism involved but its a great series and fuck anyone who says different.

Interesting that he can say that shit about Roots knowing a backlash will never be received. Now them jewish folks on the other hand would of had that amish mafia erase him

There is plenty of proof that Malcolm didn't write the book or even tried to pass it off as he wrote the book. The whole idea came from Elijah Muhammad to Alex Haley from a series of interviews he was doing for CBS about Malcolm and black muslims. Elijah Muhammad suggested to Alex to consider writing the biography. Every interview and passage written had to be approved personally by Elijah. People forget all of this was happening at the time Malcolm was growing suspicious of Elijah and Elijah's family was trying to silence Malcolm.

Alex Haley's own notes gives away his frauds. The timelines of his notes don't match up with where Malcolm was at. He has notes of interviews he supposedly had with Malcolm when Malcolm was actually in Mecca. Malcolm refused to meet up Alex after only a few interviews because he didn't trust Alex because of his relationship with Elijah.

Don't give me that check the credits because the book was published after Malcolm's death against Malcom's wishes.

Okay, I'm not even gonna go into a circle jerk about it with you. You got proof? Provide it.

You can request most of the info from the FBI or you can go to a number African/African American research centers, such as the Amistad Research Center on Tulane University campus. They have all of the records and notes on the book. Most archivist that specialize in African American history will point you into the right direction.

I somewhat agree, Roots is too fucking campy for me. We're talking about slavery for god sakes, this shit came off as PG13. You can't compare Tarantino's movie to Roots either, Tarantino's movie was more of a western/comedy as opposed to Roots which was suppose to be a period piece.

A lot of people forgot about Shaka Zulu TV series. It showed everything and was authentic as it gets. Better than ROOTS if you ask me.

I remember watching this in like 91 when i lived in the Ivory Coast, the witch bitch used to scare the shit outta me....but the way he took the throne was too gangsta....btw Centric has a marathon on NYE

Sorry in advance for the long write.

Well that is his opinion, when someones opinion has that much power that you can get frustrated hearing it it only shows how much power that person has over you.

Spike lee's movies, while not as entertaining as Quentins work are wholesome and real. He pushes real issues to your face in such an artistic way that some just cant grasp it.

Then again...if the issue is not one you encounter how could you grasp or understand the fine work this man as done? It is like comparing a home cooked meal to fast food.

Spike>quentin and though i have no problem with whites i dont expect them to understand.

Bamboozled> anything Q.T has done to this date.
