Alex haley was a very lazy writer, which is why to some it felt to simplistic. Shit, look at the Autobiography of Malcolm X that was basically a made up story about Malcolm's life. It had so much false information that it could be called a work of fiction. Also he was sued by the original author for it.

Actually it was only a section of "Roots" that was claimed to be Plagiarized. Regardless, Alex Haley wrote his book and it was about HIS family. "Roots" is a 1,000 times more Authentic than "Django". It's not even in the same planet. Also the Autobiography of Malcolm X is a Classic just like the movie. No Autobiography is 100% accurate.

He admitted to stealing 81 passages and he wasn't related to anyone in Roots. Queen was more authentic and he didn't finish it before he died. Autobiography of Malcolm X wasn't no where near accurate to be called an autobiography. Malcolm didn't even show up too most of their interviews. Alex Haley and Elijah Muhammad wrote that book.

This is true at times, but you have to remember who gave them the platform that you constructed your views of them in the first place. The media gives and taketh away as they see fit. I'm always suspect of anybody or story that the media promotes. I do my own independent research.
