What does any of that mean? He was breathing and apart of the process. Just because he fucked with what Jay was doing doesn't mean he gave him rights anything before or the rights to use anything after death.

Spot on. At the end of the day all that matters is documented approval for tidal for the entire catalog streaming wise on tidal. I am far from a die hard Prince fan (i got his greatest hits and a few other joints i own). But around the time of his sickness and passing information was around about his lack to get his will in order.

If Prince had a will Jay and Tidal would most likely not be in this legal matter because hov could point to the will and tell these Estate niggas to fuck off. Prince is an inspiration and just one of many examples of black artists from a previous era who overcame fucked up contracts. He fought for his freedom music wise. But his refusal to have a will is fucking shit up for his legacy and who gets paid off his work. It's a sad situation.

This sound like some hungry lawyers trying to get paid. Prince himself while living took all his shit off other streaming sites but Tidal clearly he was ok with jay using his music.

But then again he should of left a will i know folks think they'll live to see 80. But if u rich u should make one period so folks don't try to steal from ya loved ones or friends

real shit this is probably what's happening. either the lawyers, surviving family, or both want some easy money. Prince probably didn't put that shit in writing and said something to jay like "my word is my bond. we don't need these lawyers jay" and jay couldn't do shit but nod his head cause how the hell you gonna argue with prince? now that's gonna bite him in the ass, the lawyers and family are gonna get paid, then they'll share his music with the highest bidder. and the white man get paid off of all of that

Peace be upon him and respect to his estate but they can keep his fucking music and back catalog. Lets be honest half of its pretentious and MJ>>>>>him as an entertainer and person. Yes he was a musical genius but he was also dumb for not embracing the digital age of music business for an artist of his stature. He could have made more money in a year than he think anyone would of stole from him in his lifetime. I dont see why they are going at Jay Z when youtube and other major media outlets has his music also with billions of hits and streams. They should be thanking Jay Z. Tidal is for marketed for the youth and us that have spending power in our 30s and 40s. Its rare to find diehard fans of his in our age range because he was pretty much underground and left field in our teen years. Tidal was just trying to garner interest in his works from this new generation. Them old school cats quick to say everybody turned their back on funk, black rock, and why nobody want to play instruments no more bullshit but they never make their works available for listen or stream because they want every fucking penny that they scared to get from who REALLY owe them. yeah his legal team may pull this tough guy shit on Jay Z/tidal but lets not forget warner bros lawyers been bitch slappin them back since day 1 and made the boy put write slave on his face.

The GOAT of all GOATS is like "The same thing Nas did to you in 2001 is what I did to him all through the 80s"

But posted this in July of this year...

Sellout problems. Fuck apple. fuck tidal. fuck kanye. Nothing to benefit the culture or fans as usual. Heartbreaking to see this culture that started off in the streets in early 70s that nobody wanted a part of get whored out to this point. Where the fuck was apple and tidal in 73, 79, 88, 94? Hip Hop is stupid as fuck for giving up on physical media. They had power and influence in technology sector. The main reason why Sony, Panasonic, JVC etc kept making portable devices, mini compos and boomboxes was because of hip hop alone. Going digital gave up the real power and independece

Oochie Wally or One MIC? Which one my nigga?

If Prince signed that deal to exclusively stream with Tidal then not even death is breaking that. The family is probably bring greedy and got an offer from a major label for his music. Only way to get our that deal is take it public and try to throw Roc Nation under the bus. If Jay was smart he would not sell. Prince would not want his music sold to none of these labels

Yall bout to learn the hard way not to fuck with Prince legal team.

This fight will not end in Tidal's favor.

Princes estate and Prince are two different factions in this. Prince didn't want a will and with limited paperwork supported Tidal and Jay and he performed on behalf of Tidal.

The Prince estate and legal team stressed to him multiple times to get a will in solid order for when he would pass away weather it was 5 minutes from back then or 20 years from his current year of death.

This is like the Wayne Birdman case where the Judge ask Stunna Island and Company to get the paperwork missing. If Jay has the paperwork Tidal is straight. If Jay only has verbal agreements and phone calls or texts from Prince without the legal paperwork then he is fucked.

A verbal or text is just as good as a contract. If the terms are listed and both sides agreed

The bold still points toward having those exact terms listed which will be the make or break of this lawsuit.

Lol at no signing me on that contract post. Contracts don't have to be in writing. They can't be verbal in agreement. You learn that in any contract law class.

These labels will muscle their way to shit though and those sell out ass family members..ie Katherine Jackson, etc will sell for a quick buck. Like Master Plan said. "If this white man is willing to offer me 1 million dollars that means I'm worth 40"

I doubt someone like Jay out here just streaming Prince music without covering his ass with some kind of paperwork.... This'll get dropped like pretty much every other Jay case

"I got a bag for lawyers, like, "Fuck your charges!"

Hop out the courtroom, like, "What charges?"

Big pimpin' on your court steps

Case y'all ain't notice, I ain't lost yet"

-Jay Z-

Damn hov...

"Prince left his masters where they safe and sound. We never gon let the elevator take him down."

Welp if tidal loses prince music I'm going back to Spotify.

If the only contractual papers say for one album or few a limited time and Jay says they verbally agreed for all music and albums the courts gunna to literally say "we don't believe you we need more people.

Prince is dead (RIP) and Jay is alive. They would need clear witnesses and a clear time and place that this verbal agreement took place. If they don't and it's just a "we was at the 40/40 espn on the screen and we agreed the verbal agreement don't mean shit."

Well we don't know the deal of the contract, because when he was alive Tidal was streaming more than his latest album so clearly that deal was for more than one album.

But we don't know either way which is why it lies on Jay and Tidal proving the legality of what they did. Prince was supportive of Tidal and most likely wasn't monitoring how long his agreement was. But now that he has passed the Estate wants to see everything that was agreed upon. We will only find out what really is on record in court.
