McClain, claimed off waivers from the Jaguars at the end of the 2011 season, blossomed into an outstanding slot corner for the Falcons last season. He appeared in 17 games, including the playoffs, and registered one interception and ten pass breakups, while grading out as Pro Football Focus' No. 12 corner. Atlanta would prefer one of first-round CB Desmond Trufant or second-rounder Robert Alford to claim the starting job opposite Asante Samuel.

I think TD should give McClain a 3 year contract around week 8 if he continues to play at the level he did last season. That way we could prevent the possibility of him asking for too much money when the season is over. He's only getting $550k this season. 3 year, 9 million dollars would be a steal imo. If Trufant and Alford show any type of potential this season, Asante is gone. We need to lock up McClain for the long term ASAP.
