Yeah purple tape is just the nickname of Cuban linx... Cause the tape was purple. I guess that was a way back then for dealers to mark their brand,so they did the same with that tape by making it purple

Ive been listening to their albums for the last 2-3 weeks and I can't answer that LOLOLOL. The quality of music is so incredible I feel that favorites can only be chosen if you have an experience to relate to when that album/song came out LOLOLOLOL. Stankonia is the highest rated rap album on metacritic, with it just edging out the prior albums by a hair.
They collectively sold more albums too as they went on, their last album sold 13mil worldwide. OutKast influenced Kanye West, Kendrick Lamar, Wale, Kid Cudi, Logic, KRIT and a slew of others, shit The Love Below influenced 808s. It's hard to pick one album LOLOLOL. So far for me it's a toss up between ATLiens, Aquemini and Stankonia. They're the only group in Hip-Hop to have a flawless track record of classic albums. I'm feeling ATLiens a bit more.

Prince Paul - A Prince Among Thieves (illest hip hop concept album IMO)
AZ - Aziatic
Brother Ali - Shadows on the Sun
Camp Lo - Uptown Saturday Night
Chino XL - Here to Save You All
8Ball & MJG - Coming Out Hard
Jean Grae - Jeanius
ODB - Return to the 36 Chambers
The Roots - Illadelph Halflife
Jedi Mind Tricks - Violent By Design (its horrorcore...but give it a shot, its classic)
Xzibit - Restless

btw, im going to give preference to albums offered as part of Amazon's Prime music service. They have a bunch of older hip hop stuff available for streaming.
had a podnuh in college was a CRAZY ghostface fan. He was from Baton Rouge too lol. Who would've thought. Nigga was a spitting image of Brian Pumper, and was dressed like the WuTang cats back in college.
I'll probably start this on the way home and report back
aight fellas,
btw, thanks to everyone who has contributed to this thread
so i just wrapped up supreme clientele
My previous experience with this album consisted of "apollo kids" (GREAT workout song) and "cherchez laghost".
So, ok, I can get down with Ghostface. Album was a solid joint. There were a couple of joints I wasnt really feeling, mainly Nutmeg and The Grain.
Standout songs to me (outside of the singles):
-Buck 50
-Malcolm
-Wu Banga
-Child's Play
I give this album a solid 6.5/10.

aight so...just wrapped this album up
Upon first listen, this was a nice album. Full of nice lyrics, nice production, and content that is still relevant today. Gonna name the tracks that stood out to me outside of the obvious singles.
The Message - I remember seeing the video for If I ruled the world, and it had a snippet of this playing. I thought the beat was dope af back then. My aunt, oddly enough, had it was written on tape, but i would just listen to If i ruled the world and The Message, but listening to both those songs today certainly takes on a different meaning than back when i was a kid.
Black girl lost - listening to this, i couldnt help but think of "2nd Childhood" off Stillmatic. The connections are crazy b/t the two songs.
Shootout - nice beat, dope lyrics...nothing more to say
I gave you power - kinda has that "one mic" feel to it...i was vibing to this
Take it in blood and The set up - reminds me of the story telling caliber of "rewind". Doesnt have the creativity of rewind, but thats not a bad thing at all.
I could damn near name all the non single tracks, but that aint what im trying to do lol
But after one complete listen, i give this a solid 8-9/10.

Notorious BIG - Life After Death
2Pac - All Eyez on Me
Puff Daddy & The Family - No Way Out
Lox - We Are the Streets
Big Pun - Capital Punishment
Fat Joe - J.O.S.E. (Jealous Ones Still Envy)
DMX - It's Dark and Hell is Hot
DMX - Flesh of My Flex, Blood of my Blood
DMX - And then there was X
Noreaga - N.O.R.E.
Cam'ron - Confessions of Fire
Cam'ron - SDE
Cam'ron - Come Home with me
Cam'ron - Purple Haze
The Diplomats - Diplomatic Immunity
Jim Jones - Hustler's POME
Dr. Dre - Chronic 2001
I gotta think about some more stuff from the 90's..
listened to No Way Out from front to back...GREAT ALBUM. Fav tracks other than Victory and all about the Benjamins is "is this the end" and "what you gonna do"
Bought Diplomatic Immunity when it was like 7.99 at Circuit City...ON RELEASE DAY!!!! Still gets heavy rotation til this day. Def one of my all time favs.
Preciate the contribution Em

It really is a great Album and it still holds up today
What did you think of the Dr Dre song "Nas is coming"?
I don't understand the hate for that song by some people. I think it's dope and in 96 it was rare to have a east coast rapper on Dre beat

BRUH!! I bought it the day it came out @ Target for 6.99! One of the rare times after I listened to the whole album (both discs) for the 1st time, I knew it was a classic in its own right! Til this day I don't know why it was that cheap.
I honestly felt like I stole that bitch for 7 bucks! LoL

NOT SURE IF THE VERSION YOU LISTENED TO HAD SILENT MURDER...
BUT DEFINITELY CHECK THAT OUT ON YOUTUBE OR SOMETHING...
FOR SOME PERSPECTIVE...
IT WAS THE SIDE A BONUS TRACK ON THE CASSETTE VERSION...
SO THIS PLAYS AFTER THE SETUP AND BEFORE BLACK GIRL LOST.

Fishscale is probably my least favorite Ghostface album. I'd much rather listen to Supreme Clientele.
